Background:
The mission of Denver JDS is to educate Jewish students through an integrated secular and Jewish studies program to thrive in college and beyond and act ethically and purposefully in the world.

Since its founding (with the Lower Division, then HERZL, founded in 1975, and the Upper Division, then RHMA, founded in 1979), Denver JDS has aimed to inspire Jewish youth to think critically about the world in which we live and prepare them for the role they will play in affecting it.
With this mission and purpose in mind, in the fall of 2017, Denver JDS was the recipient of a grant from Rose Community Foundation to develop a makerspace in order to take the school’s commitment to innovative education to the next level.

Denver Jewish Day School currently has roughly 360 students and 65 faculty members.

Primary Purpose and Objectives:
Denver Jewish Day School seeks a resourceful, driven, and innovative Makerspace Coordinator for the 2018-2019 school year. The Makerspace Coordinator will work with the K12 administrative team to support our K12 faculty and students towards integrating our makerspace into our school program.

The ideal candidate models outstanding character and empathy and works well with students and teachers in all grades. He or she provides a learning environment that inspires inquiry, creative thinking and problem solving skills and encourages collaboration in a positive, respectful culture. He or she demonstrates considerable flexibility in an ever evolving and fluid schedule, communicates well with students, parents and colleagues, and invests in the school community.

Major Responsibilities and Duties Include:
Work with our administrative team and faculty members to foster a maker mentality inside the makerspace and within the school as a whole
Collaborate with K12 teachers to integrate hands on, authentic activities into the curriculum
Work in conjunction with our technology team to advance the implementation of educational technology
Plan and execute instruction over a variety of topics connected to the makerspace
Recruit and train mentors in different areas
Design and implement professional development opportunities for faculty members
Supervise and facilitate student participation in the makerspace for class and
independent projects
Maintain the makerspace, including organization, supplies, and equipment
Oversee the makerspace budget

Please note that this is a part-time position with the possibility of it being combined with additional teaching responsibilities in order to create a full-time position.

Interested parties should submit a cover letter and resume to Avi Halzel, head of school, at ahalzel@denverjds.org.
