Job Summary
Gulliver’s Montgomery Drive Campus is seeking a Makerspace Coordinator/Teacher for the 2020-2021 school year to develop and lead a Maker program for grades 5-8. The ideal candidate is not only a teacher but an explorer, leader, tinkerer, collaborator, creator, designer and builder. The ideal candidate seeks to constantly stay updated on new technology innovations and holds a strong understanding of education and how to incorporate these technologies in an educational Makerspace setting.
The Makerspace Coordinator will be responsible for:

Facilitating workshops and training for faculty and students in areas including, but not limited to making, tinkering, innovation, problem based learning, design thinking and rapid prototyping

Collaborating with teachers to integrate hands-on, authentic activities into the curriculum and team teaching with classroom teacher

Researching, developing and prototyping innovative maker challenges and activities

Supervising and facilitating student participation in the makerspace for class and independent projects

Maintaining the machines tools, materials, safe use, and schedule of the Makerspace

Attending all departmental and school faculty meetings

Teaching 2 digital design courses within the Mass Media Department

Facilitating community-based service learning projects and activities

Being committed to student learning, personal growth and professional development
Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred in education or STEAM related field

Minimum of three years or more in makerspace operations preferred

Strong technical skills on the use of Laser Cutters, 3D Printers, and a variety of graphic design software tools

Knowledge and experience of technology, engineering, design, science, art, craft, woodworking, and building

Experience working on interdepartmental projects

Excellent organization and interpersonal skills

Genuine excitement for and ability to work with students, faculty staff and parents

Strong classroom management skills

Action oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable and innovative approach

Strong attention to detail, and ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
