The Marketing and Communications Associate is a key member of the Marketing and Communications team. The role involves writing, simple graphic design, photography, basic website maintenance, and social media production to support the overall marketing and communications efforts of the school. This position will work closely with other departments at The Bear Creek School to support their respective communication efforts.

Experience and Skills:

Primary Responsibilities

Writing and Design

  • Assist with editing and proofing school emails and other communications

  • Assist with design and production of posters, printed programs for performing arts and athletics, and other in-house materials

  • Update and manage weekly LCD slide deck

  • Assist with production of the weekly e-newsletter, The Bear Facts

  • Manage adult bloggers; edit posts as needed; schedule and post student and adult blogs on website

  • Conduct interviews and write Modus Vivendi articles and other articles as assigned

Photography/Videography

  • Take high-quality photos of events and activities for use in internal and external marketing collateral and on social media

  • Manage process of collecting, uploading, downloading, or cataloging photos for specific projects

  • Assist with management of Vidigami photo sharing platform

  • Assist with coordination of Headmaster Update videos

  • Assist with posting videos on website and other locations as needed

  • Assist with management of Bear Creek’s YouTube channel

Website Maintenance

  • Assist webmaster in making basic content changes to website

  • Create and update website photo slideshows

  • Annually update Faculty and Staff Directory

  • Update News items

Social Media Producer

  • Provide day to day management of active social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), including content development. Monitor platforms outside of standard office hours to ensure quality control, moderate conversations, and respond as needed.

  • Generate content for Bear Creek social media channels

  • Analyze and report the performance and growth of all active social media platforms

  • Research and stay current with social media trends

  • Serve as online brand steward for The Bear Creek School.

 

Other duties

  • Monitor and coordinate updates to peer listing/review sites

    • Assist with coordinating volunteers for videos as needed

    • Responsible for other duties/projects as assigned by supervisor as needed.

 

Job Requirements

  • Excellent writing skills for both print and online mediums

  • Strong photography skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment

  • Flexible and adaptable

  • Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized

  • Proficient using relevant social media platforms and tools

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/Office 365

  • Experience in Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and InDesign preferred

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, or other related field preferred

  • 2-3 years of experience in not-for-profit or independent schools preferred

  • Available and willing to work some evenings and weekends to photograph school events and monitor social media accounts

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office work (computer, paperwork, telephone, communicating with the public). Requires standing for long periods of time while attending events
