The main purpose of the Media Integration Specialist (MIS) is to provide leadership and instructional resources and services for implementation of a school library media program that serves as an integral part of a student-centered educational process. Knowledge of curricular areas is essential in order to serve the interdisciplinary needs of Saint Francis School learning community. The goal of the MIS is to collaborate with staff, teach skills to students and staff, and maintain the holdings of the Media Center.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum B.S. or B.A. in Secondary Education or equivalent including library science/media hours.
Additional graduate work in related area is highly desired.
Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with students and staff.
Knowledge and ability to teach information and technology literacy needed for independent learning.
Ability to provide an environment conducive to quick accessibility, good study habits, and development of proficient media users.
Knowledge and ability to work with technology and assist integration in the classroom.
Ability and willingness to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of students, teachers, and the school.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assemble collections of media that support Saint Francis School curriculum.
Demonstrates professional integrity through ethical behavior.
Promote ethical and efficient information seeking behaviors.
Collaborates with teachers in the school’s use of instructional technology to enhance learning.
Assists staff to ensure technology is utilized to the fullest extent possible through meaningful integration into Saint Francis School curriculum.
Is knowledgeable about current trends in education.
Solicits input from teachers and students concerning media needs.
Selects materials for a variety of student/staff interests, learning styles, and reading levels.
Selects and maintains media that will compliment and supplement curriculum.
Assists in the development and administration of the media budget.
Evaluates the school library media program on a continual basis according to accepted standards of quality.
Eliminates outdated, inappropriate and unsuitable materials.
Assists Head of School in determining technology in-service needs.
Performs other duties as may be assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

10 month work schedule which begins on August 1 and ends on July 31.
Vacation periods include first three weeks in July, fall break, Christmas/New Year break, and spring break.
Salary is negotiable depending on education and experience.
