Middle School Technology Integrationist
Position: Middle School Technology Integrationist
Reports to: Middle School Division Head
FLSA: Exempt, full-time
Salary Range: $67,500 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience
Convent of the Sacred Heart, seeks a Middle School Technology Integrationist to begin in August 2025.
The principal role of the Middle School Technology Integrationist is to collaborate with teachers of other disciplines, teach technology classes, and support the Middle School community, including students, faculty, staff, and parents, in their technological growth and understanding.
Requirements:
- Experience teaching and integrating technology into a 5-8 curriculum
- Knowledge of current trends in educational technology
- Knowledge of child development, especially in connection with technology
- Strong background in technology, engineering, and/or design thinking
- Ability to troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues relevant to tech in the classroom
- Master’s Degree related to Education and/or Technology/Science
Preferred Skills and Expertise:
- Experience working in a Makerspace and using tools (3D printer, laser cutter, soldering, sewing machine, vinyl cutter) to both build and maintain the program, as well as perform equipment maintenance and supervise projects
- Proficiency in at least one professional programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, p5.js, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to support Google Apps for Education and integrate the suite of tools into the classroom
- Practical knowledge of mainstream educational software and applications (i.e. Tinkercad, Adobe Creative Cloud, Ozobots, micro:bits, WeVideo, Canva)
Responsibilities:
Teaching Technology Classes
- Design and teach technology classes for students in Grades 5-8, ensuring age-appropriate skill development.
- Differentiate instruction to support individual and group learning needs, providing both extra support and enrichment.
- Maintain and refine a Middle School technology curriculum map and scope and sequence in collaboration with Lower and Upper School Technology Integrationists.
- Provide updates on individual student progress through twice-yearly report cards.
- Integrate social justice, diversity, equity, and anti-bias education into the curriculum through lessons, actions, and discussions.
Faculty Support and Training
- Lead workshops and training sessions for faculty on new instructional tools, applications, and curriculum resources.
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for faculty and students with technology-related challenges.
- Research and evaluate emerging educational technologies to enhance instruction.
- Manage online subscriptions for web applications used in the Middle School.
- Support the Middle School Administrative Team with communication tools, including developing systems, forms, and notices.
- Collaborate with the technology department to ensure best practices for internet safety, operational use, and parent support tickets.
Technology Integration
- Partner with faculty to design and implement classroom projects that effectively integrate technology, including makerspace tools, coding, and design thinking.
- Collaborate and support faculty in building intentional technology use into the curriculum to ensure students build technology and problem-solving skills at each grade level.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Lower, Middle, and Upper School Makerspaces, including equipment upkeep and supervising the space when necessary.
- Attend faculty meetings and professional development days to stay current with best practices in educational technology.
