Carrollwood Day School (CDS) seeks a dedicated and experienced Middle School/ Upper School Innovation Integrator.  CDS is an International Baccalaureate, non-sectarian independent day school serving students from two-years-old through high school.  The Mission of Carrollwood Day School is to create entrepreneurial thinkers for a global society. We provide strong character-based education emphasizing problem solving skills and philanthropic understanding. Our students are prepared to be world leaders using the International Baccalaureate Programmes, cutting edge technology, creative arts and competitive athletics. Most importantly, CDS fosters the development of the entire student not only in academics, but also ethically, emotionally and through social experience. Our goal is to help students discover and develop their own talents and interests and use these to better the world and themselves.

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Engaging in curriculum review to identify opportunities to design and implement innovative teaching and learning throughout disciplines and grade levels
  • Collaborating with teachers and specialists to train and co-teach new lessons
  • Provide strategic leadership in the area of Innovation by engaging in collaborative planning with Upper Administration to develop school-wide innovation goals and action plans
  • Working collaboratively with the all-school Innovation Committee Providing teacher support through professional development regarding 21st century learning skills and best teaching practices
  • Helping students design and create with innovative tools and technology
  • Facilitating and coordinating partnerships with local organizations to provide further training, mentoring, and opportunities to faculty & students
  • Developing workshops for students, teachers, and parents.
  • Empowering staff and students to collaborate to become early adopters, critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information & technology
  • Identifying and highlighting for the purposes of community education and enrollment and retention distinguishing achievements of faculty and students.

 

Competitive candidates should demonstrate leadership in innovation through experience in implementing technology, programs, and professional development with faculty. They should have an understanding of and affinity for students (grades 6-12) and show an ability to work with students who vary in ability and learning styles. They should be an intuitive and humble coach, capable of meeting faculty at their current level of comfort and expertise and bringing them into the innovation process.  They should understand innovation is a process not a product oftentimes individually defined.  They should also demonstrate support of student life by leading clubs or organizations and participating in extracurricular school activities.

 

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in field is required; advanced degree preferred.  Previous experience in a similar role is highly desirable, but not required. Knowledge of IB MYP & DP curriculum a plus.
