Network Administrator
Highland Community College invites applications for a full-time Network Administrator in Information Technology Services (ITS). The Network Administrator designs, implements, and maintains the campus network, servers, storage, applications, and services to meet the needs of students, faculty and staff. This position has direct oversight of the campus network and server system, is responsible for user account maintenance, and reviews usage patterns to maintain optimal system configuration and performance. The position manages and implements new network, server, storage, and application upgrades. The position plans and applies security measures and software patches to safeguard the College's data and systems. The position works with technical and non-technical staff, network users, as well as vendors and consultants so good language skills are required. This position is responsible for the campus data backup solutions and testing their effectiveness. Knowledge of, and skill in operating system software such as Linux, VMware, Windows, and storage information required. Knowledge of hardware, tools, equipment and materials used in networking such as switches, routers, protocol, and devices required.
Associate's degree in informational technology, computer science or a related field required, Bachelor's degree preferred, and 5 years successful work experience administering an enterprise class network of a similar size and configuration or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provide the required knowledge and skills required. CompTIANetwork+ or other network administration certification required within 6 months of hire. Open Enterprise Server Certification preferred. Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may require evening and weekend hours. This position requires a criminal background check.
