Position Summary

The Network Administrator will work closely with the Director of Technology. To be successful in this position, the network administrator will plan and help coordinate the design, installation, and connectivity of the network and ensure the stable and secure operation of all IT assets.  This position maintains the stability of the school’s voice data, video, printing, wired and wireless systems. S/he will be the initial point of contact to provide support to all users of the computer and telecommunications systems at the school. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the network infrastructure at FVS including all servers, firewalls,
    switches, and other equipment.
  • Provide direct support for printer and workstation issues and general software applications to administration, faculty, and students.
  • Make technology recommendations of what hardware/software is needed at the server and/or user levels.
  • Create and manage user accounts in Active Directory, Google, and other services as needed. 
  • Provide support to all staff in configuring and troubleshooting AV equipment.
  • Document, track, and monitor the requests to ensure timely resolution. 
  • Provide initial on-site computer and telecommunications troubleshooting. 
  • Provides AV support to school functions both within and outside of normal school hours, including occasional weekends as needed. 
  • Unpacks, configures, inventories, images, and installs new computer and telecommunications equipment. 
  • Installs and tests software updates as directed.
  • Provides insight on network security issues and resolutions.
  • Keeps Tech Department storage areas orderly and secure. 
  • Performs preventive maintenance on computer systems and networking hardware.
  • Maintains up-to-date documentation in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Participate in end-user events, as appropriate, i.e. client training.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, Windows 10, and Mac OSX, iOS, windows server 2016, GSuite Apps, and Nutanix Acropolis
  • Extensive knowledge of Cisco Unity phone servers
  • Extensive Knowledge of networked environments wired and wireless. 
    • Meraki APs and Switches
    • Cisco SMB switches
  • Experience with MDM servers and concepts 
  • Experience with network security and endpoint protection
    • Fortigate and Lightspeed
  • Ability to work with individuals with a range of technological expertise in a courteous and professional manner consistent with the core values and culture of the school
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive with users in the midst of a technology "crisis."
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, self-directed and punctual. 
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

Education / License Qualifications:

  • 4 year college degree preferred
  • Technical support experience, Microsoft, Apple, Google and Cisco certifications a plus
  • Experience with classroom teaching/workshop training preferred
  • Experience with Blackbaud a plus

Working Conditions

Environment:  A 9-12 private high school on 1100 acres.
Physical Demands: able to do a combination of sit, stand and lift up to 40 lbs for at least 8 hours per day; occasional after hours, weekend and/ or weeknight obligations
