St. Andrew’s College is looking for a personable, experienced, and analytical individual to fulfill the full-time role of Network Administrator and Systems Architect for our campus wide wireless network supporting 700+ laptop users. The position will be responsible for effectively maintaining and integrating the end-to-end operation of the network from the firewall, to virtual servers, to wireless access points, and to the fleet of convertible hybrid laptops. In this medium size network, the successful candidate must be able to draw on their breadth of IT experience and be resourceful in bringing dynamic solutions to our growing network. Every aspect of our business is, in some way, morphing to include IT solutions and the successful candidate must have a track record of IT innovation. This person must have experience and an interest in every aspect of modern technology
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintaining firewall protocol and rules;
- Managing virtualized servers running Active Directory using Windows Server 2012/2008;
- Managing projects;
- Researching, proposing, and implementing new IT solutions;
- Finding vendors offering unique solutions;
- Integrating all aspects of a medium-size state-of-the-art network;
- Ensuring that the storage of data meets all privacy and confidentiality requirements.
Job Requirements:
- University Degree in a technical area such as computer science, networking, or engineering and at least 5 years of network administration experience;
- Expert knowledge of network components, server architecture, virtualized environments, network security, and proven ability to implement innovative solutions;
- Ability to configure firewall rules, operate virtualized servers, and manage active directory;
- A demonstrated ability to do independent research on converging IT solutions;
- Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills;
- Ability to work occasional irregular hours, including evenings and weekends for maintenance, trouble shooting, and new installations.
