General Description

The Computer Information Systems-Information Technology Department supports instructional foundations in computing areas most important in today’s workplace—including PC operating systems, common applications software, data communications and networking, database management systems, computer programming, and systems analysis and design. In addition to the many degrees the department supports, there are many certificates such as the Computer Programming and Software Development Proficiency Certificate, Network and Systems Administration Proficiency Certificate and the Cyber Security I Proficiency Certificate.

The Department of Computer Technologies invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Networking to begin Fall 2018.

Specific Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in classes involving Microsoft and Cisco related platforms and operating systems.

• Provide guidance for students enrolled in or interested in the certificate or degree programs.

• Implement or create labs and instruct students in the creation, performance and understanding of concepts related to course student learning outcomes in the following areas:
- Network attacks and virus characteristics.
-Network Cabling Media (BaseT, Cat5, Fiber, etc.)
-Network Protocols, Ports and Services (i.e., TCP/IP, TFTP, DNS, DHCP, ICMP, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP an VoiP).
-Utilize network addressing (MAC, 1Pv4, 1Pv6).
-Configuration of File Servers, Proxy and Print Servers.
-Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Outlook, Excel).
-Remote Desktop and Remote Assistance.
-Network Security concepts (IDS, IPS, SSH, Encryption, Steganography).
-Logical, Physical and Wireless Topologies.
-Network Design and Devices (i.e. DMZ, IDF, MDF, Demarc, Hubs, Switches, Routers, Bridges, etc.)
-Number Conversions (Decimal-Octet-Binary-Hexadecimal).
-OSI and TCP/IP Models.
-Utilize network utilities (i.e., Arp, net share, Hosname, Netstat, Nbtstat,Ping, tracert, etc.).

• Remain current in the use of technology, developments within the field of discipline, and developments related to teaching and student success.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Network Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or a closely related discipline (i.e., 18 or more credit hours in the prior listed disciplines).

• Any combination of the following certifications: MCSA, MCSE, MCITP, MTA, CCENT or CCNA with a current transcript on file with either Microsoft or Cisco.

• Two or more years of network technology experience with Routers, Switches and Servers and Computers.

• Two or more years of full or part-time teaching experience in the field of computer and network technology at the high-school, career training school, college or university level.

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
