Network/IT Administrator
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Duties and Qualifications:
• Coordinate installation, operation, maintenance, resolution of hardware and software problems, monitoring of traffic, capacity planning, system backup, and user training for a Local Area Network
• Serves as resource by providing effective solutions and/or advice when problems arise
• Develops and maintains relationships with outside advisors, consultants, and vendors
• Work with Head of School or designee to provide input for technology budget, including purchasing, licensing, and contracts with outside vendors
• Evaluate, test, and recommend new data communication hardware and software; maintain interface with vendor representatives and other computer resources to resolve hardware and software problems; inform new users of appropriate hardware and software specifications for access to network
• Install or coordinate installation of network hardware, software for use and network upgrades according to vendor instructions; configure equipment with assistance from vendor or other computer resources
• Prepare and maintain equipment with assistance from vendor or other computer resources.
• Prepare and maintain procedure manuals and documentation for internal use, maintain reference library to include reference manuals and user guides; maintain accurate records and logs of users, equipment serial numbers. service records. maintenance agreements, warranties, wiring schemes and network problems and solutions
• Coordinate application specific support for users such as spreadsheets, databases, and electronic mail; support system backup, archiving, retrieval files, file recovery using standard software utilities; add and delete users and assure security of password and confidential files
• Implement and test a network disaster recovery plan; resolve all connectivity and technical problems by maintaining close working relationship with outside vendors
• Conducts annual review of the technology program
• Assist in training users to use the network and related software
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described
• Implements best practices as related to technology use in the school program based on research, pilot programs and state/national standards
• Works with faculty in the selection of resources that are compatible with the school technology infrastructure
• Works with the administration to develop the school's technology plan
• Conducts annual review of the technology plan
• Coordinates the repair and maintenance of all technology related equipment
• Provides troubleshooting services when possible
• Adheres to and communicates copyright as well as other laws and guidelines, pertaining to the distribution and ethical use of all resources
• Annually prepares and reviews the technology inventory report
• Other duties as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor.
• Work requires communication and analytical skills normally acquired through two years of post-secondary education in mathematics, computer science or related field or equivalent technical training in computer related field
• Degree in MIS (management information systems) or similar preferred
