• Life Insurance: The coverage amount is based on two and one-half times appointment salary rounded up to the next whole thousand with a maximum coverage of $100,000 and includes the same amount of Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefits. The University currently pays the entire cost of coverage.
• Medical, Dental and Prescription Drug Coverage: The cost of coverage is shared between employees and the University. Rates are determined by participation in Wellness Program and use of tobacco products. Coverage is available on the first of the month following appointment date.
• TIAA Retirement Contributions: Contributions begin based upon the first day of employment at a contribution rate of ten (10) percent of base appointment salary paid in full by ISU. The contributions are vested immediately. There are 40 investment options from which to choose.
• TIAA Auto Enroll: New employees are automatically enrolled in a tax deferred retirement program at hire: three (3) percent is deducted before taxes for the program to facilitate retirement planning. Employees may opt out of the program within 90 days.
• Long Term Disability Coverage: Employees are eligible after three (3) years of continuous, regular employment with the University. This policy guarantees approved disabled employees a 66 2/3 percent income protection (from all sources) after 180 days of continuous total disability. Immediate participation is available for current members of a comparable group disability insurance program within 90 days prior to ISU employment and that would have provided income protection upon disability for at least five years.
• Fee Waiver Program: For the employee, spouse and dependent children: Staff may enroll in up to 18 hours of course work each academic year at a reduced rate. Spouses may enroll in 15 semester hours each academic year with 80% of qualified tuition waived. Dependent children of regular full-time staff who are full-time degree seeking undergraduate students at ISU may receive a fee waiver of 80% of qualified tuition for up to a total of ten (10) semesters. Consult your department for any limitations or restrictions.
• Sick Leave: Accrues at a rate of 12 days per academic year with unlimited accumulation.
• Vacation: Employee accrues 20 vacation days per year.

Job Summary/Basic Function

This is a 12-month tenure-track position that designs and works with open educational resources (OER), web applications, social media, and mobile interfaces. The OER and Emerging Technologies Librarian identifies, implements, and evaluates current and emerging technologies for the delivery of library services, with a special focus on social networking applications, mobile services, and instructional technologies; plans, develops and evaluates the Cunningham Memorial Library website; and works with the Reference faculty to ensure that Library’s instructional resources are easy to use. The Librarian will provide leadership and responsibilities in the identification, assessment, and implementation of emerging technologies that further the library’s mission and increase and enhance access to library resources and services. The Librarian will work with users to improve access to Library technology services through outreach and instruction and make recommendations to improve online access. The Librarian will track changes in technology, resource platforms, and related tools that impact library users as well as use social media and other online communication tools to ensure that changes in technology are well advertised to the entire university community. The OER and Emerging Technologies Librarian is responsible for college-wide administrative support of Indiana State University’s OERinitiatives, with emphasis on professional development, identification of OER course content and overall support for adoption of OER. The Librarian will charged with the creation and curation of OER content at ISU. As part of the Systems department team, the person in this position will provide assistance to students and others in the wider community to ensure full access to library technology services, as well as coordinate work with other Library units to fulfill the mission of the Library and the University. The Librarian will be expected to progress successfully along the tenure and promotion track and participate fully as a member of the library faculty.

Specific Responsibilities

1. Design and maintain web applications, social media, and mobile interfaces
2. Usability and Human Computer Interaction (HCI) assessment with a focus on instructional design
3. Incorporate appropriate design principles, information architectures, coding standards, and emerging technologies in various online systems
4. Provide leadership and responsibilities in the identification, assessment, and implementation of emerging technologies that further the library’s mission and increase and enhance access to library resources and services
5. Meet with University faculty and other stakeholders to provide guidance on the adoption of Open Educational Resources across the ISU community.
6. Lead assessment and data collection on the use and adoption of OER at Indiana State.
7. Promote the Library through social media such as Facebook and Twitter as part of the library communications team.
8. Troubleshoot access problems to library technologies for remote users and on site.
9. Provide reports and updates on changes in Library technology services.
10. Assist with the implementation and assessment of search and discovery tools for electronic resources. 
11. Assist with the maintenance and improvement of Web services.
12. Work across library departments to ensure coordination of information in service of the library’s mission.
13. This position may require work during evening and weekend hours.

Required Relevant Education & Experience

• Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent terminal degree; 
• Experience with a full stack web application framework (i.e., LAMP, ASP.NET and Ruby on Rails.)
• Experience with library and educational technologies, applications, open education, open textbooks, and open digital scholarship; defining educational objectives and assessing learning outcomes; and user-centered design and evaluation.  
• Effective organizational, interpersonal and communications skills, including ability to interact effectively with culturally, socioeconomically, and geographically diverse communities, both internal and external to the library; 
• Demonstrated ability to initiate, organize, and set priorities in a team environment; 
• Experience in professional use of blogs and other online social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and related tools; 
• Experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Server-side scripting and web development tools.

Background in systems librarianship. Second master’s degree in computer science or related field.
