The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), an internationally renowned college of art and design, business and technology of the State University of New York, invites applications for the position of Online Learning Manager in the Online Learning and Academic Technologies department.
Job Description:
Reporting to the Executive Director for Online Learning and Academic Technologies, the Technology Manager will share responsibility for supporting the development of high quality, technology-mediated courses and programs for FIT's online and blended offerings. The successful candidate will work directly with faculty and the Executive Director to assist in the development of online, blended, and Web-enhanced courses. Specific job duties include (but are not limited to):
- Provide technical support to faculty members as they develop, design, and create online instructional content;
- Manage the timeline related to these processes to ensure timely completion of course projects;
- Finalize new online courses, making sure that the layout of each course is clear, key components are present (syllabus, course objectives, etc.) and that Blackboard tools are appropriately used;
- Write reports each semester, offering suggestions for how faculty can improve the presentation of their online content, emphasizing usability, organization, and most effective technology tools;
- Provide weekly workshops on Blackboard features and new technologies that could be Integrated with Blackboard;
- Support faculty in the use of Blackboard and multimedia recording equipment;
- Assist in evaluating, selecting, and adopting technology products related to online learning and academic technologies;
- Create tutorials for faculty and students on how to use Blackboard and other tools (Voicethread, Collaborate, Lynda.com, Qwickly, etc.);
- Manage projects related to online program growth and compliance (Middle States Accreditation, SUNY approvals, ADA compliance, etc.);
- Work collaboratively with other FIT offices such as the Registrar, Library, Advisement, Writing Center, Tutoring Services in support of online education;
- Identify trends in Online Learning and Academic Technologies and make recommendations to the Executive Director on best trends to adopt;
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Online Learning and Academic Technology.
Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Educational Technology, Distance Learning, or a related field from an accredited college or university;
- Three or more years of experience in building online courses Is required;
- Experience with leading technology workshops and using Blaclkboard Learn is preferred, as is experience with tools such as Voicethread, Proctoring tools, and iynda,com:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
Additional Information:
35 hours per week; schedule based on needs of the department
