Part-time Computer and Assistive Technology Instructor
Independent day school in Culver City that meets the educational, emotional and social needs of learning disabled students (age 7-14) with average to superior intellectual potential is seeking a Part-time Computer and Assistive Technology Instructor to start August 22nd, 2016.
Position is part-time (approximately 10 ~ 15 hours / week). Responsibilities will include: keyboarding instruction for students in grades 2nd – 8th; training of students on Kurzweil, Siri, and/or Dragon dependent upon individual students’ academic needs; training teachers on assistive technology programs, prezi, various educational apps and other current classroom technology; teaching middle-school students how to organize their desktops; collaborating with Occupational Therapist.
The ideal candidate will be: excellent at organization, scheduling and executive functioning; an effective communicator with both students and adults, able to assess individual students’ needs for assistive technology; a self-starter who will take initiative in creating strong technology support programs for students with learning differences and researching the latest educational apps and programs. Expertise in Kurzweil, Dragon Naturally Speaking, and Siri is a must. Knowledge and proficiency with other assistive technology tools such as Livescribe is preferred. This is an excellent opportunity for graduate students working towards a degree in related fields. Hourly rate is dependent upon experience.
