Part-Time Innovation Lab Assistant
Job Summary
The Part-Time Innovation Lab Assistant is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean and informatively creative working environment for students to learn about electronics, materials science, computer-aided design and programming. This assistant will also work with faculty to coordinate appropriate curriculum with students ranging from K through 8th grade learning levels, aiding with the execution of lesson plans, assessments and activities geared toward the enthusiastic utilization and promotion of the GEMS Design and Innovation Lab.
Partner with faculty on the execution of lesson plans and lab exercises.
Maintain and manage 3D printers, laser cutting equipment and materials inventory.
Assist in the instruction of safe and proper equipment use with students.
Guide students with electronics and material science projects per lesson plan objectives.
Research new, innovative hardware and software optimal for the lab learning experience.
Qualifications
* Minimum 2 years experience working with 3D printers and laser cutters.
* Minimum 1 year experience computer programming (preferably in Python, C++ or Scratch)
* Familiar with Windows, Mac OSX and Linux operating systems.
* Experience with Arduinos, Electronics Kits, Multimeters, wiring and soldering.
* Ability to relate and communicative effectively and sensitively with students and parents.
