Pedagogical Innovation Technologist
Reporting to the Manager of Pedagogical Innovation, this position is responsible for the design and implementation of innovative tools and curricula to be used for Division of Continuing Education (DCE) courses. Position works closely with faculty members who are interested in integrating new pedagogical approaches and technologies into their courses. NOTE: This is a 1-year position with the possibility of extension after the first year. This position will offer opportunities for experimentation with the latest technologies and will involve design and implementation of non-traditional solutions to pedagogical problems. Initial projects may include: · Design and implementation of interactive, digital learning environments. · Design and implementation of a system for automated video capture of lectures and talks. · Development of frameworks for automated grading of course assignments.

Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field; minimum of 7 years of related work experience; fluency in PHP, Python, and/or Ruby; experience with MySQL or equivalent; experience with C as well as web programming, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; comfort with Linux and command line. |

Master's degree strongly preferred. Position requires superior organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate on a team. Experience in an academic environment preferred. Teaching experience is a plus. Experience with virtualization, videography, and system administration is desirable. Demonstrable written and verbal communication skills. |

The term appointment has a schedule to end date May 31, 2017. The position may be renewed based on the changing needs of the Division of Continuing Education.
The Division of Continuing Education (DCE) comprises several entities including the Harvard Extension School, the Harvard Summer School, the Harvard Professional Development Programs and the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement. For more than a century, Harvard Extension School has made Harvard faculty and teaching accessible to a diverse community of local, national, and international students. Harvard Extension School enrolls approximately 13,000 students per year in approximately 65 liberal arts and professional fields. More than 650 open enrollment online and classroom courses are offered at affordable prices to our communities across the world. Harvard Summer School offers approximately 300 courses on the Harvard Campus to 6,000 secondary school, college and adult learners and more than 30 international study abroad programs for up to 600 students each summer. The Division also includes the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement with approximately 550 active members and Harvard Professional Development Programs offering about 60 two-day, noncredit courses annually.
