Founded in 1967, Rosseau Lake College is a small, co-educational post-secondary preparatory day and boarding school for students in grades 7-12. Located in Muskoka, our mission is to help students develop a personal brand, through a combination of personalized learning, relevant working skills, and a discovery culture. The academic program follows Ontario provincial standards and is designed to challenge students.

Rosseau Lake College has an opening for a Physics and Communications Technology Teacher. The successful candidate is an energetic and committed educator who is intrinsically motivated and thrives in a team environment. The individual is intrigued by modern teaching/learning techniques and offers enthusiasm/experience for differentiated teaching methodology and is keen to be a part of a change project as it relates to school’s strategic vision for the academic program. Applicants must also be enthusiastically committed to a full co-curricular and residential program, which includes coaching and residence supervision.

Position Summary

  • Organize and deliver courses in physics and computer science courses as outlined in the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum.
  • Participate in the athletics program as a coach.
  • Use modern assessment techniques and evaluate student performance through formal and informal communication.
  • Attend all faculty meetings and participate in special school events that occur throughout the year.
  • Contribute to a learning environment that values a strong rapport between students and faculty.

 

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary degree in the relevant discipline, and current certificate from the Ontario College of Teachers or equivalent regulatory body.
  • Recent, pertinent teaching experience is required.
  • Strong leadership, planning, organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Able to engage students, assisting them with tasks and helping them succeed.
  • Ability to relate well with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in facilitating 21st century learning with innovative pedagogy.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in use and integration of information technology into curriculum.
  • Experienced sailing instructor (an asset).

Compensation salary in accordance with faculty scale (in accordance with qualifications and teaching experience), comprehensive benefits package, meal program and matching participation in the OTPP is included.
