Job Summary
Assist in developing, organizing and coordinating instructional activities of Career and Technology Education (CTE) for the district. Coordinate public school activities of CTE partnerships with business, industry and post-secondary institutions.

Job Scope
This position assists CTE Director in support and supervision of district CTE programs including development and coordination of instructional business partnerships, post-secondary linkages, program designs, adult programs and program safety.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support district work-based learning experiences, including job shadowing, and paid/ unpaid internships
  • Assist in CTE program design, budgeting and financial management
  • Provide job placement and coordination between students, graduates and businesses
  • Assist and monitor the implementation of the district comprehensive career guidance program which includes the following:

 

a. Career awareness, grades K-5
b. Career orientation, grades 6-8
c. Career exploration opportunities, grades 9-10
d. Career focus, grades 11-12
e. Local, regional and state occupational information
f. Secondary and post-secondary training opportunities

 

  • Assist campuses in counseling, testing and placement of students in CTE
  • Serve as the site administrator for Career Cruising (career development software)
  • Assist with and facilitate professional learning for teachers and professional staff
  • Determine appropriate CTE data for the Public Education Information System
  • Coordinate with district PEIMS Manager about the required data for establishment of new CTE courses
  • Assist with the development and submission of the TEA program effectiveness report
  • Assist with the TEA licensures and certifications report
  • Complete CTE contact-hour report every six-weeks
  • Monitor and report to the CTE Director the CTE FTE’s earned per six weeks
  • Coordinate Vital Link partnership program with Chamber of Commerce
  • Assist in the editing of district-wide high-school course description publications
  • Provide research information and data for district continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collect, monitor, and maintain paid and unpaid training plans as mandated by TEA
  • Provide instructional support for BCTAL and district-wide CTE programs: budget, equipment, staffing, safety, student loads, career counseling and facilities management
  • Assist with CTE program advisory committees and overall program evaluations
  • Coordinate and assist with post-secondary linkages, business and industry linkages and business partnerships
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification

  • Master’s Degree
  • Texas Teaching and Texas Mid-Management or Principal Certificate Required
  • Experience as a classroom Career and Technology teacher preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Skills in school administration, grant writing/administration, leadership, problem solving, conflict resolution, team building and communication are required. Knowledge of school district operations and administration from a campus and central office perspective needed. An ability to coordinate partnerships among business/industry, secondary, and post-secondary institutions is required. Must have an ability to read, perform mathematical calculations, write reports, and effectively utilize technology.
