The Project Director, Technology Services primary purpose is to lead, oversee and ensure the successful delivery and management of single or multiple projects within scope, quality, and time constraints that may be clearly defined or may require dynamic change management.  This role is responsible for project management responsibilities including managing multiple projects, programming as assigned, defining business and system requirements, and creating documentation.  The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills; project management experience; SQL programming skills; technical knowledge of multiple application technologies; application development platforms and methodologies, and a variety of programming languages.  This position reports to the Deputy Chief Information Officer, Technology Services and will provide support by managing projects, providing status updates, and programming.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:  

  • Provides vision, direction, and project management for existing and future department specific and campus-wide projects

  • Leads the analysis and design of business processes and change requirements

  • Leads the collection of technical requirements and programming specifications for multiple groups at MCC

  • Translates business requirements into technical requirements

  • Communicates complex and/or technical requirements to business owners in a manner that can be easily understood

  • Completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with multiple departments

  • Coordinates within departments and divisions on existing, new, or upgraded software selection, sizing, and design

  • Assists Technology Services with the management of College-wide technology projects and helps to determine project feasibility, cost, priorities, and timelines

  • Actively pursues self-directed learning of new software technologies as the College embraces them

  • Stays up-to-date on technical and project management issues

  • Stays current on security best practices and ensures work is compliant with MCC security standards

  • Provides weekly update summaries to the Deputy CIO

  • Participates as a member of the on-call staff, working weeknights and weekends as necessary to facilitate systems upgrades and maintenance

  • Performs support, troubleshooting, debugging, and research to resolve technical issues

  • Reviews current programs, systems, and operations for continued efficiency and management

  • Works successfully in a collaborative team environment

  • Participates in code review

  • Develops documentation for new procedures

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Deputy CIO, Technology Services

Requirements:

Required Qualifications: 

  • Earned degree from a regionally accredited higher education institution or military training with the equivalent of 24 credit hours of relevant project management / technical content

  • Three (3) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in technical project management

  • Experience in project management 

  • Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal communication, and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) skills

  • Strong understanding of programming languages MSSQL and/or PL/SQL

  • Excellent judgment, problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to work on multiple projects under tight project deadlines 

  • Ability to work collaboratively with IT colleagues and business constituents on new projects and ongoing initiatives

  • Experience with a wide range of standard office, and systems management based software packages

  • Commitment to self-learning emerging technologies and working in a team-based environment with expanding activities and quickly changing technologies

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products

  • Minimum of three years' experience managing complex projects
