Robotics Manager

Milken Community Schools is looking for a dynamic Robotics Manager to develop and implement our vision for innovative teaching and learning.
Position Summary:

The Robotics Manager will manage the Robotics Team for the school with the assistance of the Robotics Coordinator and under the guidance of the Director of Academic Technology. The candidate chosen will lead the students in preparation for Robotics Team events, build the season and competition schedule, and coordinate the schedule with school leaders.

Responsibilities

1. Program Readiness
Conduct readiness sessions with Robotics Team. These sessions may be used to become familiar with students and provide them with information about program structure, materials, safety, and space cleanliness.
Create a schedule and ensure that it is communicated to Team participants and parents. Work with school event planners to ensure a successful FRC (First Robotics Competition) program.
Work with Robotics Coordinator to promote student skills that will be beneficial to the Robotics Team.
Establish volunteer schedule and, when necessary, work with supervision and volunteers to confirm that all are approved prior Build Season.
Lead and or coordinate and/or attend any relevant Robotics trainings, workshops, and/or information sessions.
Ensure the Robotics workshop is supplied and fully operational in preparation for the Build Season.
2. Build Season and Competition

Manages Robotics Coordinator.
Coordinate logistics and accompany Robotics Team to Robotics kick-offs, qualifying tournaments, and championship events including all fiscal and logistical support, outreach, and operational aspects.
Work with Robotics Coordinator, volunteers, and any relevant consultants to support programing that furthers Team goals.
Oversee the smooth operation of the Robotics Team activities during Build Season by:
Supervising students on site at all times to ensure student safety and completion of goals.
Maintain integrity of work and classroom space and secure building when leaving, if needed
Manage budgeting and purchasing for the Team
Utilize Team information to register Team, order necessary materials, and register for regional competitions.
Execute necessary procedures to record Team spending, bill of materials, and roster.
Coordinate logistics and supervise students during regional and/or national competitions. This includes trip planning details, working with parent volunteers, team mentors, and Robotics Coordinator.
Organize meetings and other events that include internal and external project members, including coordinating meeting times, places, agendas, publishing meeting notes, and tracking follow-up action items.
Plan and coordinate summer workshops for robotics.

Other Requirements

Candidate needs to have experience working with teenagers.
Candidate needs to be able to keep flexible hours. The Robotics Team meets from 2:30 PM to 9:00 PM on many evenings. The team travels for competitions for three to five days about six times each school year. Teams also prepare for competitions on some Sundays.
Candidate must have experience working with machinery such as mills, lathes, routers, and power tools.
Experience with Robotics and design software such as Solidworks, Autocad Inventor, and Mastercam are desirable.

Demonstrated commitment to students and their achievement.
Commitment and enforcement of a safe and organized environment for students. Past experience in shop safety a plus.
A Bachelor’s degree (preferably in related field) is required.
3-5 years of experience in Robotics Management.
Salary commensurate with experience.
