As a member of Temple University’s Computer Services department, the Security Analyst plays an important role in the development, administration and oversight of the University’s Information Security program.

The incumbent will participate in all aspects of the Enterprise Security Environments. Position is responsible for managing and overseeing the “operational” information security and information security compliance efforts, including the development, maintenance, and monitoring of standards, procedures, and guidelines necessary to satisfy the Computer Services Security department’s operational responsibilities.  The analyst will help clients adhere to the ITS policies and control standards and provide technical leadership and project management skills to support the design, deployment, administration and operation of the security infrastructure and tools; including intrusion detection/prevention systems, compliance monitoring tools, firewalls, remote access devices, encryption products, and vulnerability assessment tools. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Cyber Security or related field. At least three (3) years progressive experience in Information Security. Experience with network systems and security controls, including firewall, IPS, and Siem Tools. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Provide security and systems administration for ERP applications, Oracle, Multi Factor Authentication, Windows Server Operating Systems, Directory Services, Linux/Unix operating systems: Red Hat Linux, messaging and collaboration systems.

  • Understanding of security events to provide incident response and escalate, as needed.

  • Ability to conduct risk assessments regarding Identity, Security and Access Management concerns (LDAP Directories, Web SSO, SAML etc.).

  • Knowledge of threat analysis, disaster recovery, business continuity planning.

  • Ability to communicate complex technical details in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical staff.

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to effectively interact with diverse groups of individuals.

  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends, if necessary.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with working with vendors to resolve problems and complete projects.

  • Certification in Information Security (for example CISSP).
