Senior Information Technologist
Duties and Responsibilities |
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Manager of Technology Services, plan, implement, and provide services that support the use of information technology within the Academic Health Collaborative, (AHC) and their assigned college. Provide authoritative technical consultation and assistance to faculty and staff located on the Kingston Campus and as required at the Nursing Education Center (NEC) in Providence. Provide associated administrative and logistic support as required. Serve as a senior technologist responsible for complex instructional technology systems. Work with the central IT support at URI and the staff at the NEC as appropriate. May also serve as senior technologist on a project team that involves other support staff. Perform duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision, and supports the mission of the Academic Health Collaborative and its colleges. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide technology support for administrative, research and teaching use of information technology. Provide desktop support services for faculty and staff. Ensure functioning of all equipment including simulators, skills labs, video-capture, AV classroom equipment, simulation software, hardware and manikins, and access to web-based programs including student testing environments. Assist faculty in the integration of technology into the curriculum. Conduct demonstrations and training sessions in the use of instructional hardware and software. Participate in projects to integrate new technologies including installing, configuring, and testing new hardware and software. Provide authoritative technical consultation to faculty and staff. Evaluate, specify and procure related components. Develop and manage bids, contracts, request for proposals and vendor relationships in support of information technology initiatives. Function independently or as a member of an information technology team. Supervise technical, professional, clerical, and student support staff as assigned. Maintain an active commitment to professional development and mentor junior staff. Collaborate with AHC staff and URI Facility Services on the delivery of facility related projects in assigned buildings. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other related work as assigned. LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Personal computers, printers and word processing, database management, and spreadsheet software. |

Required Qualifications |
REQUIRED: 1. Bachelor’s degree. 2. Minimum of four years of experience in information technology (including a substantial amount (>50%) of desktop support (PC and Mac)). 3. Demonstrated knowledge of Windows Server technology. 4. Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and also as a member of a team. 5. Demonstrated strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills. 6. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills. 7. Demonstrated supervisory experience. 8. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations. |
Preferred Qualifications |
PREFERRED: 1. Master’s degree. 2. Demonstrated customer service experience in higher education. 3. Demonstrated familiarity with networking. 4. Demonstrated experience evaluating educational software products. 5. Demonstrated experience preparing reports. 6. Demonstrated knowledge of technology used in simulation equipment.
