The three departments that constitute the College of Information (COI) are unified in a reliance on emergent technologies as can be seen in the research conducted by each unit. Faculty in Learning Technology work to enhance learning for all populations including those with special education needs. Faculty in Information Science use technologies to create methods for mining, curating, aggregating, and analyzing information from both traditional and newer digital repositories. Faculty in Linguistics create new digital resources to improve natural language processing and machine translation.  
The College of Information Dean's Office at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Senior IT Support Manager to join our team. This position will manage the College of Information Technology Services Group (TSG), to ensure that the TSG serves as a customer service unit, and collaborates with other units in the College and external to the College to meet & exceed the technology related needs of the college and its departments/end users and to provide consultation to end users in their technology related decision-making. 

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: 

* Strategic planning: Develop and initiate IT strategies and planning to meet the College and its departments' short, moderate and long-term goals; Provide consultation to end users in their technology related decision-making. 

* Skill development - maintaining currency and forecasting: understanding of major technology and technology management trends and integrate with institutional needs. 

* Project Management: Assess need for projects, assign staff to projects to ensure efficient performance; ensure culture of service and meeting industry service standards by staff. 

* Resource planning and management (budget, equipment). 

* Participating and initiating collaborative planning processes for business technology, including "make vs. buy" decisions for technology. 

* Supervision of Technical Staff; ensure appropriate staff training, including culture of service. 

* Managing and developing partnerships and relationships with key internal customers and external clients. 

* Support and ensure regulatory compliance within the IT infrastructure. 

* Software programming and development: Oversee the development and implementation of software applications to meet client/administrative needs. Design procedures for evaluating systems, hardware and software. 

* Hardware and software installation, maintenance and troubleshooting; Coordinate efforts for software and hardware installation to achieve unit goals and customer needs; Establish systems methodology, procedures and protocol for applications support environment. 

* Network infrastructure and Network traffic control (protocols, routing): Oversee the design and evaluation of information technology systems architecture and connectivity in area of responsibility. 

* Facilities and Asset Management: Liaise and oversee space and facilities management, maintenance and repair of College level mechanical, electrical and voice/data communication services, College's business continuity plan development and update, College wide asset management, and undertaking of various internal and external reporting requirements.

The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications: 

* Bachelor's Degree in related field and six years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 
* Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department. 
* Considerable knowledge of principles of computing and/or communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environments. 
* Ability to supervise and train subordinates. 
* Ability to operate computer keyboards and to install computer hardware. 
* Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and applications-oriented information.  

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: 

* Supervisory, customer service, and technical experience required. 
* Experience managing budgets and staff. 
* Experience in education.
