Senior Manager, Web Services
East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania is hiring a Senior Manager of Web Services! Summary
The Senior Manager of Web Services (Web Master) will be responsible for changing and improving systems to improve performance and oversee content strategy, graphic design, front-end development and interface of the ESU web properties. The Senior Manager will maintain quality of the website and compliance with web and accessibility standards as well as create solutions to functional and technical problems. The Senior Manager is responsible for the exploration, implementation, testing and maintenance of all new technology relative to the website. The individual will create and update organizational guidelines for the web that are consistent with ESU’s strategic goals, objectives and identity, analyze the effectiveness of ESU’s web presence and determines best strategies for improving its performance, and manage activities and projects that support web services. Individual will also provide strategic direction and leadership for project management, customer service processes and software selection and support. The position currently has 1 direct report.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee development (critical and technical) and daily operations of ESU’s websites in consonance with university identity standards.
• Supervise and assist in the execution of all design, editorial and technical aspects of the website, including accessibility compliance.
• Communicate with university departments to assess their needs for the website and to explain strategies and technologies.
• Oversee the development of the ESU website information architecture.
• Research and generate new ideas and innovations in technology that may be used in university communication with its many constituency groups.
• Recommends and designs website user interface components.
• Promote and enforce web guidelines among all university constituents.
• Audit existing ESU websites and lead the analysis of organizational and communication needs and goals related to the site.
• Research and generate new ideas and innovations in technology that may be used in university communication with its many constituency groups.
• Other related duties as required.
• Performs related work as required.
• Lead institutional committee with regard to web accessibility compliance.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Media Communications or a field that blends communications or art with technical skills; Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology with experience in Communications, Media or similar field would be considered in lieu of a degree in Media Communications
• Extensive experience developing responsive websites with HTML5, CSS3, jQuery and Javascript
• Experience writing/designing database applications (i.e. Oracle or MySQL) and a frontend content/input system
• Understanding of Windows and Linux server administration
• Experience with Web server administration using Microsoft IIS, Apache or other web server applications and other API protocols
• Experience using and managing content management systems
• Knowledge of PHP, MySQL and Cold Fusion
• Knowledge of hosting and working with cloud computing
• Knowledge of modern Web Accessibility guidelines - WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA), and responsive web design
• Knowledge of ability and limitations of browsers
• Knowledge of editorial resources and ability to make editorial judgment, ability to meet deadlines, strong attention to detail Experience writing content for the web and social media
• Knowledge of web analytics software and analysis.
• Knowledge of current multimedia formats and their use and distribution on the web
• Knowledge of usability and information architecture research techniques
Work Hours: Typically 8am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday and as business needs demand.
