Senior Network Security Manager
Senior level position responsible for maintaining and enhancing District-wide security architecture of computers, network appliances, networks and mobile devices. Manages various security tools and equipment following strict guidelines and procedures to minimize security compromises for DCCCD. Designs and implements new equipment, tools, and procedures to improve computer network security. Provides first and second level assistance for all DCCCD locations concerning computer security.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Advanced technical background, including working knowledge of network management protocols, networking architecture, authentication practices and security administration. Demonstrated excellence in troubleshooting. Advanced knowledge of developing network and systems security strategies, plans and policies. Advanced knowledge and understanding of information security law. Advanced oral and written communication skills to interface with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to act independently in case of investigations, while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with organization policy and the law. The ability to provide quality customer service.
Physical Requirements
May be required to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Minimum Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or higher plus five years of experience in supporting the safety and security of a computing environment or relevant experience or Associate’s degree plus seven years of experience in supporting the safety and security of a computing environment or relevant experience. Preferred Skills: Responsible for design and implementing computer of enterprise networks (LANs, WANs, corporate, internet connectivity other networks used to transport data and voice traffic. Performs network analysis, planning and modeling. Senior role in Implementing and in collaboration with InfoSec team in design of network and related security measures including network security architecture. Will research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software. Provides escalation troubleshooting and support to colleagues. May take on role of Project Leader for various enterprise wide assignments and team lead within network technician group. Senior member of a 24/7/365 enterprise-wide support team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for management, research, execution and architectural planning of DCCCD computer network security. Evaluates network processes, network architecture and systems to ensure integrity and confidentiality of information resources. Evaluates, recommends, deploys and documents security appliances and software tools. Researches, plans, designs, and implements IT security requirements. Serves as the primary resources person for all DCCCD campus/locations IT technicians and specialists in troubleshooting and resolving network security issues. Aligns network safety and security to protect district business processes without inhibiting them. To maintain adequate defense from threats, maintains district’s currency with various network security tools and strategies. Develops, architects and maintains various District-wide IT network security control systems such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, wireless networks, virtual private networks, and network account access. Develops procedural parameters for and performs network vulnerability scanning. Analyzes log files, and report breaches including potential solutions. Monitors network traffic activity District-wide. Coordinates and leads with information security incident response, recovery, and event handling needs. Serves as a technical liaison to outside law enforcement and other security and privacy related organizations. Participates in District policy review process as a technical liaison to councils, committees, and teams. Tests and implements new security hardware and software. Evaluates security of new software, operating systems, protocols, and network architectures. Administers system access authorization and IT security control. Performs IT security audits and back-up and engage in disaster recovery planning and implementation. Performs systems administration tasks in support of information security systems. Provides training on security requirements, configurations, and use of monitoring tools. May direct the work of others in support of database operations. Performs other related duties as assigned.
