The Software Developer is a valued member of the Applications & Data Services – Student Collaboration Center group responsible for the development, programming, integration, testing and implementation of custom scripts and web-based and vendor developed applications/functions.  These processes would be in support of our primary Student applications, Ellucian Banner Student system in an Oracle database environment and Ellucian CRM Recruit system in a Microsoft Dynamics CRM SQL database environment. The qualified candidate will be responsible for developing student related packages, procedures, triggers, and functions in support of business process improvement for these Ellucian Student processes.

 

Working independently or as part of a team, the qualified candidate will develop integrated, best-practice technical solutions to support departmental and university wide users. The selected candidate will be working in a university setting with exposure to multiple technologies, including PL/SQL, Workflow and Imaging, database object creation, web development (Java, .NET), Cognos Reporting, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, forms development, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and at least two years of related technical experience. Demonstrated experience with Oracle PL/SQL and/or Microsoft Dynamics CRM. This includes experience developing Packages, Procedures, Triggers, and Functions. Experience with enterprise-level, application development. Demonstrated experience programming with languages and tools such as XML, SQL, .NET, VB, Web Services, etc. would be a plus. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated understanding and technical grasp of relational database design/normalization, testing methodologies and software development lifecycles.

  • Strong analytical, programming, interfacing and testing skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to elicit and document user requirements and to document completed applications.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to relate to a diverse group of management and staff.

  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends, if necessary.

 

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Student application support/development.

  • Demonstrated experience developing Java web based applications.

  • Exposure to JSON and JSON principles.

  • Knowledge in core web technologies including HTML4/5, CSS, JavaScript and AJAX.

  • Experience with reporting and forms applications, ie. Cognos, FormFusion, Crystal Reports, etc.
