STEM Integration Specialist
Assess the current state of STEM education at Wakefield School and collaborate with the Educational Leadership Team to establish and implement an integrated STEM curriculum for JK - 12.
Embrace and model a culture of innovation and evolution in curriculum and instruction.
Coordinate with classroom teachers to develop and implement integrated units of study including STEM elements in grades JK - 5.
Offer or direct the development and implementation of STEM-related courses in grades 6 - 12.
Assist the Director of eLearning and the Technology Team with the integration of technology across the curriculum and provide insights regarding the longer-term technology needs for the school.
Serve as a member of the Academic Committee collaborating with all departments and educational leaders in setting the professional practices and curriculum for the school.
Key attributes include being a self-starter, willing teacher, and facilitator with a background in mathematics, science, engineering, or computer science. A passion for helping students experience and understand design thinking, STEM, and its varied applications is a must. Strong communication skills and the ability to coalesce teams are also necessary attributes.
This is a new position and an entrepreneurial spirit and the opportunity to craft the program and grow with the needs of the department are especially exciting elements. This quasi-administrative position is open to non-traditional teaching candidates who may possess the skills and dispositions necessary but may lack experience in an educational environment.
