The Student Information Systems (SIS) Specialist will provide timely, accurate support to The School's administrators, faculty, and staff in their use of the FileMaker Pro based proprietary software. In conjunction with the software developer, the Specialist will develop, maintain and update The School's SIS and other management systems software, in accordance with the needs of The School, and will be expected to adhere to timelines in delivering, paper or electronic, reports and other documents critical to the school's dynamics. This person will communicate effectively and work cooperatively with The School's administrators, faculty, staff, and outside service providers. S/he will continuously monitor and update administrative and academic processes by managing the development, implementation, and maintenance of existing school academic and management information systems modules. Further develops existing school information management systems to support operating procedures as they evolve, which requires significant experience with FileMaker Pro development. In conjunction with the Director of Technology, the incumbent will: develop design specifications, coordinate project management, and design and oversee quality assurance testing protocols, to ensure that specifications for new applications or the redevelopment of current applications are met. Will be expected to document: program development, logic, coding, and corrections; write support guides for users which describe installation, configuration and operating procedures; provide extensive training and support sites designed for activities specific to The School, such as Teach21, IPW, and The Great Mathematicians Project. Will provide support to the communications department with the school's website. When necessary will assist with troubleshooting and resolving common issues with computers, and other classroom and office electronic equipment.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports and develops The School's management information systems. Improves administrative and academic processes by supporting the management, development, implementation, and maintenance of the school's information systems management software. Produces or assists in the production of documents and processes, such as Transcript, Narrative Reports, Home Visits, Class Lists, Classroom Placements, amongst others. Further develop existing system's modules to support operating procedures as they evolve. Develops design specifications, coordinates project management, and ensures that specifications for new applications or the redevelopment of current applications is met. Designs and oversees quality assurance testing protocols. (60%)

Works with The School's Communications Office to support the maintenance and development of The School's websites and online initiatives. Supports the maintenance and transitioning of The School's other in-house academic and management sites. (15%)

Provides administration training and support for specific software used in the operation of the school (10%)

Writes documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections.Writes support guides for users to describe installation, configuration and operating procedures. (10%)

Provides support with troubleshooting and resolving software and hardware technical problems. Supports with other projects/tasks as needed. (5%)

Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in a technology related field. A minimum of two years related experience is required.
Experience working with SIS and other school based management systems.
Extensive experience with FileMaker Pro.
Working knowledge of Blackbaud websites.
Experience with information systems that support educational administration.  
Ability to support faculty for integrating technology into the classroom.
Ability to lift and carry loads of (40+ lbs)
Working knowledge and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in Mac and Windows operating systems.
