Supervisor - IT Systems
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Chief Information Officer and supervises respective desktop analyst(s) and student worker(s). The System Supervisor/Security Administrator’s role is to ensure the optimal and secure operation of the in-house computer systems, servers, and network connections. This includes checking server and firewall logs, scrutinizing network traffic, backups, establishing and updating virus scans, and troubleshooting. This person will also analyze and resolve systems and security breaches and vulnerability issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and conduct user activity audits where required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manages, supervises, guides, and develops desktop analysts, student workers, and contractors as it relates to network responsibilities.

Communicates and maintains strong customer service relationships ensuring timely correction of deficiencies / repairs are completed; Identifies and coordinates resolution for IT compliance issues.

Implement and provide support, administration, and management for Windows 2003/2008 servers, Symantec Back, Active Directory, MS Exchange 2003/2008, Barracuda email filter/backup, MS SharePoint and VMware servers (ESXi 3.5).

Manage and troubleshoot problems related to DHCP, DNS, IIS, MS SQL, and FTP servers.

Administer, Manage and troubleshoot Microsoft Exchange.

Perform daily backups and restorations, MS Distributed File System and Distribute File System Replication.

Provide disk administration and RAID management; perform server-capacity planning.

Provide basic administration for Dell/EMC CX4-XXX storage area network devices, with Fibre channel and iSCSI.

Monitor server/network performance and availability.
-
Monitor/perform daily backups while administering a scheduled rotation of backup data both on and off-site.

Administer the use of Anti-virus protection (Sophos) for local servers and clients.

Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.

Manage connection security for local area networks, the campus intranet, and e-mail communications.

Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.

Centralize the audit trail of all Active Directory changes, apply tighter security policies and prevent over-privileged users.

Analyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance.

Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.

Manage and report on all group policies and links, and prevent over privileged users.

Monitor server logs, firewall logs, intrusion detection logs, and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity. Interpret activity and make recommendations for resolution.

Recommend, schedule (where appropriate), and apply fixes, security patches, disaster recovery procedures, and any other measures required in the event of a security breach.

Maintain client computers in the Student computer labs.

Oversee projects assigned to various staff and student workers.

Required Qualifications:

Associates Degree in a computer-related field.
-
Experience with Systems Administration.
-
7 years experience in college environment.

Proven ability to implement software, establish network connections and manage servers.

Proven skills in project management.

Advanced knowledge in utilizing the Internet and various social media as a communication tool.
