Systems Administrator
Salary: Step 1 ($6,005/month) up to Step 3 ($6,620/month)
Under the direction of the Director of Learning & Innovation, the System Administrator is primarily responsible for managing and safeguarding the information systems used by staff and students in District; and for providing assistance to users when support issues arise on the network, with hardware and/or with software. This position requires a person who not only possesses the requisite technical skills and experience but also has the interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a diverse team environment.
The System Administrator will to perform a variety of technical duties involved in the installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of computer hardware/software and peripherals, associated networks, and related systems. Responsibilities also include monitoring and managing District services and accounts including G Suite for Education, PowerSchool Student Information and gradebook, Illuminate Data and Assessment System, and various digital curricular resources. This job is performed with limited supervision and will require sound independent judgment on a daily basis.
The System Administrator is one of two core service providers for classroom and office technology and will resolve help tickets collaboratively across both school sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE THE ABILITY TO:
Administer and deploy student and staff data systems.
Install, configure, modify and maintain computer hardware/software and peripherals to assure smooth running of computer work stations & systems -- primarily Chromebooks, Macbooks, and iPads.
Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve hardware/software and peripheral malfunctions; respond to user requests, work orders and trouble tickets; install, configure, and maintain a variety of peripherals such as printers and scanners.
Prepare computer equipment for staff use; install software/hardware and observe elements of the computer for evidence of incorrect performance; make adjustments as needed; connect workstations to network server, assure network connectivity and access to system information and files.
Provide training and support to technology users concerning computer and related hardware/software operations; respond to inquiries and provide technical information concerning related practices, techniques, malfunctions and procedures.
Perform a variety of network support activities such as establishing and maintaining user accounts, IP addresses, email accounts and internet connectivity.
Communicate with District personnel and various outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns.
Operate a variety of computers and tablets, servers, peripherals and specialized software; utilize various hand tools and testers.
Maintain current knowledge of technological advances in computer hardware/software.
Inspect equipment and determine need for outside assistance and repairs; arrange for and follow up on repairs as needed.
Attend and participate in various meetings as assigned.
Interact, tactfully, patiently, and courteously with employees, students and community members, through the possession of excellent interpersonal skills.
Maintain professional confidentiality and work collaboratively with peers.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
A combination of system and/or network administration experience with the equivalent of up to 3 yrs of full time support experience in a public school environment.
Ability to work in a multi-platform environment
Experience working with Apple and Windows Servers as well as cloud-based systems
Customer service skills
Experience with school data systems and account provisioning
Skilled at installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing computer and multimedia hardware/software
Familiar with technical applications in an educational setting
Experience or professional training in IT
Experience with video and multimedia production in a school environment
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Computer hardware systems/software applications utilized by the District.

Experience:
Bachelor's Degree required
Experience working with children and adolescents
QUALIFICATIONS:
3+ yrs. experience in professional environment (education sector preferred, not required)
Experience with:
Google Suite for Education, Windows Server, Windows XP//7/8/10, Mac OS X, iOS/iPad, PowerSchool (preferred but not required) and/or Student information systems (SIS), Mobile Device Management (MDM) - Meraki or others, Content filters
ADA COMPLIANCE:
Ability to exert light physical effort: Up to 25lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Daily tasks may involve: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, bending body downward and forward, and bending spine at the waist; lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability.
Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and notice extremes, machinery vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
Licenses and Background Check:
CA DOJ and FBI fingerprint clearance prior to the first day of school.
Ability to operate a vehicle between school sites
Valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License
Acceptable driving record and qualification for insurability by the District’s insurance carrier
