Systems Administrator
Emporia State University is looking for a highly motivated individual to serve as the Systems Administrator within the Information Technology (IT) department.
Position Summary:
The Systems Administrator regularly makes decisions regarding the design and architecture of information technology systems in support of business operations which impact the availability and security of systems. Incumbent will advise on the design, technical and architectural components as well as the installation, configuration and operation of enterprise systems including VMware, Windows Server and Linux operating systems, storage area networks, backup and retention, high availability and other systems hosted by the University or by hosting partners.
This position is a member of the Infrastructure team, and as such, participates in any team project utilizing critical thinking and problem solving to meet team goals and information security compliance including, IT design and architecture, change management of enterprise-wide systems, data retention and backup, user account management and lifecycle, system availability, and access to critical and confidential data and systems (HIPAA, FERPA, PCI). At times, this position may need to perform job duties outside of regular business hours including but not limited to maintenance, repair, or installation of equipment or software, and responding to unexpected outages. No regular travel is required.
Required Education and Experience:

High school diploma, or equivalent, with 3+ years of experience as a system administrator.

Associate’s degree in relevant field, with 2+ years of experience as a system administrator.

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, with 1+ years of experience as a system administrator.

Relevant industry standard certifications such as: A+, MCSE, MCSA may substitute for 1 years work experience each up to 2 years.
