Job Description:
This position will be a mission-critical member of the Office of Research – Graduate and Research Information Technology (GRIT) team, to support UCF’s research mission by developing, configuring, implementing, and supporting enterprise solutions for research administration and compliance with federal & state regulations (contracts & grants, research financials, animal and human subject research, effort reporting, environment health and safety, etc.).
The position will work closely with stakeholders, business analysts, technical team members, and service desk team to provide services to the various business units under the VP for Research.

Reports to the Manager, Information Technology III, Office of Research, UCF.

Responsible for planning, installing, maintaining and repairing hardware, system software and network issues in the Data Center.

Assist lead architect in performing daily operations to maintain enterprise servers and systems.

Works with database administrator and development team for coordinating system-wide updates and installing upgrades and patches for systems and servers.

Works with hardware and software vendors for integrating hardware and software into the infrastructure.

Responsible for backup, archive and recovery of servers and systems data and perform disaster recovery for business continuity using Unitrends and Veeam.

Performs system security administration and cyber-security to protect systems and servers.

Administers, configures, optimizes, fine-tunes and monitors Windows servers and services like DNS, DHCP, AD, SMTP, HTTP, HTTP, Print, Antivirus, and Group Policies.

Administers virtual infrastructure using VMware vSphere and vCenter; configures and monitors SAN, ESXi hosts, LUNs, Switches, virtual Switches, Clusters and Virtual Machines.

Administers web server technologies including IIS, Apache, Tomcat and ColdFusion.

Administers general group policies for desktops and coordinate with End-User Support group.

Monitors and maintains system and server uptime and performance metrics.

Performs troubleshooting and provides remediation for hardware, software and system problems involving systems and servers.

Operates and administers the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).

Administers Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) environment: testing and deploying updates via WSUS in SCCM and troubleshooting failed updates.

Recommends policies and creates procedures improve efficiency and effectiveness of servers and systems.

Perform configuration, change management and testing activities as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have 4 or more years of system administration experience in Microsoft servers and ability to develop and implement innovative enterprise solutions; ability to work effectively in a team setting as well as independently with minimal error and guidance; sense of urgency and commitment to providing the best support possible to both internal and external clients.
The ideal candidate should also have SCCM experience, experience managing Dell Switches; 1 year experience in managing infrastructure using VMware; 1 year in Linux servers administration; experience in managing network services like DNS, DHCP, AD, SMTP, HTTP, ATTPS, Print and Antivirus; Microsoft SQL Server profiling, tuning and troubleshooting; be proficient in scripting using PowerShell or Python; and have experience using system security tools like Nessus, NMap, and Acunetix. Certifications are preferred.
Special Instructions to Applicants:
This position is essential to UCF Office of Research and may be required to work after business hours, over weekends, during emergencies, hurricanes or COOP events. Work hours may vary depending on the need to perform expansion/maintenance on Data Center.
