Systems Administrator/Tier 2 Support Specialist

As Systems Administrator/Tier 2 Support Specialist you will not only maintain the tools that our school uses today, but help explore the potential that technology has in the classroom of the future. You will be responsible for coordinating, integrating, and implementing technology systems throughout the school’s campus, while understanding the Mission, Vision, Core Values, Employee Handbook and other school policies of Oxbridge Academy, ensuring the adherence of these policies in performance, action and self-conduct. This position reports to the Director of IT.
Tasks/Essential Functions:
- Help maintain high availability core IT services and infrastructure including VMWare Cluster of Windows and Linux servers, Windows Active Directory, Cisco wired and wireless network, Microsoft Office365, and Palo Alto Next-Gen firewalls
- Assist the IT Support Specialist team with escalated end-user support issues
- Maintain Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery systems and participate in annual recovery drill tests with the entire IT team
- Maintain documentation on IT systems and processes
- Track projects and requests in ticketing system using industry best practices to meet internal SLAs
- Work with clients and vendors to support a multitude of systems including, but not limited to door access controls, video security systems, SmartBoards, VoIP phones, AppleTV, A/V, etc.
Qualifications:
- Expertise in Microsoft Operating Systems, including Windows Server
- Expertise in Microsoft Active Directory, including Group Policy and PowerShell
- Expertise in Office 365 Suite
- Expertise in JAMF Casper, MacOS and Applications
- Expertise in VMWare vSphere
- Expertise in networking and security including DHCP, DNS, Cisco network routing and switching, Cisco wireless, Palo Alto security appliances
- Expertise with NAS and SAN technologies
- Expertise with Cloud-based and local backup and recovery software and methods
- Expertise with SolarWinds Orion monitoring
- Experience in project management
- Experience with Veracross SIS is a plus
Education and Personal Attributes
- Bachelor’s Degree in IS (or equivalent discipline) or appropriate industry experience required
- Technical certifications from Apple (OS and hardware), Microsoft (MCSE/MCSA), Cisco (CCNA), ITIL preferred
- 5 - 10 years of progressively responsible experience required
- Knowledge of procedures related to systems installation, operation, and maintenance
- Ability to research, prepare, and present recommendations to leadership for improvement and/or replacement systems
- Ability to evaluate performance and implement changes
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion overseeing network
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet objectives
