Systems and Network Administrator
Metairie Park Country Day School seeks an experienced and conscientious Systems and Network Administrator who will shepherd the overall design, growth, and daily operations of the School’s technology infrastructure. This work involves implementing, testing, maintaining, securing, and servicing
computer hardware, network connectivity, software applications, telecommunications, and associated peripherals. This person will also assist other members of the technology team on major technology projects and implementations and also handle requests as designated.
Duties and responsibilities:

Overall system administration, care, maintenance, and monitoring of the School’s servers, network, fiber optic channels, copper cabling, switches, routers, firewalls, proxy server, wireless controllers, VOIP server, security system, web domain controller, and all other elements which provide computer services and communication both internally as well as with the Internet.

Researches solutions to technology problems to maintain optimal uptime of the School’s network and computers. Works with the leadership team to include new hardware and software technologies that support the educational mission of the School. Works with the leadership team in overseeing the design and acquisition of new technology and equipmentExperience with GAFE, Google Apps for Education and Microsoft Office 365 preferred; Ability to assess and manage IT security risk management and disaster recovery processes; Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose/resolve network system problems; Skills include the ability to prioritize tasks in order of importance, work both independently and as part of a team, communicate effectively verbally and in writing, establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents, and the broader community.

Maintain network security to protect against viruses, hackers, and other damages. Maintains confidentiality and integrity of electronic records

Supports onboarding of new employees by providing required equipment, account setup and training. Creates and maintains domain and email accounts

Works with the Laptop Coordinator in determining the design, security, and administration of the School’s laptop and desktop program and related hardware and software. Assists with the applications and system configurations of Windows, MacOS, and iOS equipment

Maintains inventory of all technology and equipment

Maintains records on the configuration, installation, warranty, licenses, and allocation of computer software, hardware, and network systems.

Is responsible for the management, update, and budgeting of all educational licensing as well as reviews and mediates contracts for cloud-based and contracted applications services

Assists faculty and students in the appropriate and effective use of technology and the School’s technology resources

Promotes ethical and responsible use of technology for all school users

Complies with state, local, and federal laws, rules, and regulations

Coordinates with outside vendors as necessary

Creates budget requests for technology needs for the School as directed by the leadership team

Performs other duties as assigned and assists other IT support team members with their work during busy periods
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree is required in a computer-related field or an equivalent degree; MCSE and CCNA certification preferred. Additionally, a minimum of 3 years of experience in network and systems support with significant knowledge of computer network characteristics, network operating system software, and network components.
Experience managing Windows systems and networks with strong server administration and network infrastructure skills. CISCO experience preferred. Demonstrated experience with Active Directory;
The position requires an above average amount of repetitive hand movement (including simple grasping, pushing/pulling, fine manipulation), walking, bending, standing, stooping, lifting, kneeling, reaching, and climbing ladders.
