Dawson, a K-12 independent school of 530 students located east of Boulder on a beautiful 112-acre campus, seeks a Systems Engineer to support our students, faculty, and staff. The Systems Engineer is a year-round full time position researching, analyzing, testing, documenting, repairing, and deploying computers, networking infrastructure, software, and other essential technology systems.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to solve system wide problems and have experience documenting procedures and infrastructure. Previous experience in an educational setting and/or Apple, JAMF, Brocade, Aruba, Fortinet, and/or Microsoft certifications a plus.

 

Professional and Personal Qualifications

  • Apple Certifications (ACMT and ACiT) preferred (must obtain within 6 months of hiring)
  • Casper/Jamf Pro experience preferred
  • Has extensive working knowledge of computer hardware, software, networks, peripherals, and related technologies
  • Understands of TCP/IP networking, may have Network+ or CCNA certification
  • Possesses a working knowledge of deployment and management of Mac OS, iOS, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, and Google G Suite
  • Has experience using remote support tools including Apple Remote Desktop, Microsoft Remote Desktop, and Faronics Insight
  • Is comfortable with command line interfaces (Unix, Windows, and network equipment)
  • Possesses experience with scripting (Google, bash, Powershell, etc.)
  • Possesses experience supporting Mac, Windows and Chrome environments
  • Has experience with Mac OS Server and Windows Server
  • Possesses experience managing LDAP/Active Directory
  • Possesses ability to clearly explain technical concepts to general user audiences with a variety of skill levels, has good verbal communication skills
  • Effectively documents actions in a collaborative, shared-responsibility environment
  • Maintains an attitude that encourages teamwork as well as personal responsibility
  • Prioritizes tasks and is able to handle multiple concurrent projects effectively

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Director of Information Technology to implement new technologies and projects
  • Works with our ticket system to manage support requests
  • Aids in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a network of 400+ computers (95% Mac, 5% Win), iPads, other mobile devices, and networking hardware
  • Analyzes, sets up, installs, configures, and tests computer labs, faculty & staff computers, and mobile devices
  • Manages software updates and licensing for computers, mobile devices, and other hardware infrastructure
  • Installs, sets up, troubleshoots, and maintains printers, projectors, security camera system and other technology items
  • Manages an accurate inventory of technology department assets
  • Analyzes, designs, and documents processes for computer, mobile device, and peripheral device management
  • Maintains all devices as required by our policies and disaster recovery plans
  • Manages data archiving, backups, and storage
  • Provides ongoing support and training for faculty and staff in various technology applications
  • Monitors and maintains network services including network, VPN access, servers, phone system, school signs, security systems, wireless systems, and other network connected devices
  • Creates accounts for students, staff, and faculty for access to network, wireless, email, and other local and cloud-based services
  • Troubleshoots and repairs desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, network connections, and software
  • Provides technical support for our Summer Programs
