Teacher, Applied Design, Skills & Technology, Junior School: Kindergarten - Grade 7

0.5 FTE  Maternity Leave Coverage

Fixed-term contract  from August 26, 2019 to December 20, 2019

Crofton House School is seeking an experienced Junior School teacher to implement the Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies BC Curriculum during a maternity leave. You will be part of a collaborative teaching team supporting the positive growth and development of young girls in the Junior School. Teaching and learning is guided and enriched by the principles of a student-centred, collaborative approach with an inquiry-based focus to deepen learning for young students.  

Responsibilities:

  • Implement the revised BC Curriculum, ADST

  • Integrate the design cycle into the Kindergarten to Grade 7 program

  • Plan, implement and assess design thinking, ideas and fabrication with classroom teachers as partners

  • Work as a team with the design lab technician to prepare supplies

  • Vision the use of the design space - Ideation and Fabrication Lab with the young learner in mind

  • Integrate meaningful technology into the ADST program

  • Enhance the experience for diverse learners

  • Engage in ongoing teacher professional growth

  • Participate in a comprehensive co-curricular program

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience:

  • B.C. Ministry of Education Certification

  • Bachelor of Education, elementary school focus

  • An interest in tinkering and making

  • Background, education and passion that highlights the Design Cycle

  • Independent school experience an asset

  • Demonstrated awareness of the learning styles of girls

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively

  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative and flexible
