Founded in 1935 by visionary educator Margaret Lee Chadwick, Chadwick is one of two schools operated by the Roessler-Chadwick Foundation. In 2010, Chadwick International (CI) was formed in Songdo, South Korea, which expanded opportunities for students around the globe to benefit from a world-class Chadwick education.
The Computer Science and Robotics programs are housed within Chadwick’s Center for Innovation and Research. The Center also reaches out to all divisions and departments of the school to support innovative teaching. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in an inclusive and diverse program, not only as a teacher of 6th - 12th grade students, but also as a guide to other teachers who are ready to learn.

POSITION SUMMARY
-
Plan and teach classes as assigned - likely Robotics, Computer Science, and other Engineering/STEM-related subjects and activities under the umbrella of the Center for Innovation and Research.

Participate in Robotics Club as coach/mentor.
-
Support faculty in grades K-12 with the integration of technology, engineering and coding into their curricula.

Collaboratively maintain and develop curriculum as needed.
-
Teach using student-centered and driven, experiential, and differentiated methods, in line with Center philosophies.

Work individually with students as needed during the school day.
-
Participate in Center meetings and other faculty meetings.
-
Serve as a faculty advisor to students, engage substantively in the life of the school outside the classroom, participate in professional development/professional learning communities, collaborate with colleagues, and assume other duties as assigned.
ASSOCIATED RESPONSIBILITIES

Communicate promptly and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.

Backward design (Understanding by Design) courses and units taught.

Administer meaningful assessments and provide helpful feedback and grades on tests within one week and essays within two weeks of submission.

Keep information systems up to date, including class calendars, grading software, and class websites.

Submit grades, checklists, and student comments as instructed and on time.

Be on campus from 7:45 am until 3:45 pm on days when school is in session.

Attend all relevant faculty and school events (August Week, back-to-school night, parent-teacher conferences, assemblies, graduation, etc.).

Cover classes for absent colleagues as requested.

Supervise students as assigned, such as chaperoning, lunchtime supervision, student trips, and study hall.
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCES, AND SKILLS

Strong written and oral communication skills in English are required.

A bachelor’s degree is required.
-
A deep and broad knowledge of the subjects to be taught is required, including readiness to teach programming.

Strong knowledge of pedagogy and educational tools, including relevant technology, is required.

Strong teaching experience is preferred.
-
Flexibility also to teach another subject (e.g. math, science, humanities) is preferred.

A student-centered, global, and innovative approach to teaching is preferred.
