Technology and Innovation Specialist

Crestview Preparatory School, an independent K-6 school located in La Canada Flintridge, is seeking a Upper Elementary Sciences Specialist Teacher for the 2022-23 school year.

Candidates must have a passion for teaching and believe in the potential of all students to learn and progress. The ideal candidate likes and relates well to children, has a sense of humor, and has strong writing and communication skills. This individual should be comfortable with creating a learning environment that is supportive by using a variety of instructional methods that address individual learning styles and integrate theory with hands-on classroom experience.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the flexibility to teach a range of ages and skill sets, differentiate as needed to meet the needs of all students. This specialist will develop student skills as digitally responsible citizens, focus on the design thinking process and be comfortable (or interested in learning) with Scratch, Python and other emerging computing language (training provided), and have experience with robotics preferred that are appropriate for a range of students in Grades 4-6. Additionally, this specialist will teach Physical, Earth and Life Sciences to grades 4 and 5 using the FOSS (Full Option Science System). At Crestview, we see the interconnectedness of these disciplines, and seek to develop learners that understand how to collect and use data, analyze the capabilities and limitations of technology, and work to create solutions for real-world problems.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. As a full-time position it offers medical and retirement benefits. Educational degree in teaching or comparable area is required, teaching experience and computer science background will be considered.

An ideal candidate will have at least five years of teaching experience, with three in elementary preferred.
