Description & Details

 

The Technology and Media Specialist is

    • technology liaison and support  between the school and the school’s outsourced technology management/maintenance provider, presenting issues or topics on behalf of the school and the staff to the company and working directly with staff to ensure technology needs of the school are met swiftly and smoothly, including responding to staff questions or immediate technology needs  (9 hours per week)

    • an educational technology and media literacy teacher, leading weekly library sessions for grades PS-2 and managing Follett system/stacks;  planning and teaching a weekly technology/media literacy class for grades 3-4, and a tech related elective in middle school (8 hours per week)

    • resource specialist with teachers, scheduling and providing support and assistance as teachers integrate technology into their classroom experiences, including but not limited to database access, typing skills, laptop/iPad support, Skype, green screen, podcasting, music composition, etc.) 4 hours per week

    • This will involve daily work collaborating with teachers and students in classrooms, reading to students, checking out books, and maintaining organization of library; promoting media literacy, integrating technology, and collaborating with IT group to maintain, troubleshoot,  and improve information integration across the School. This position is also a teaching position.  The Technology and Media Specialist reports to the Head of Middle School and the Associate Head for Finance, Advancement, and Operations.

Knowledge and Skill Set Requirements: The ideal candidate will have at least a Bachelor’s degree and experience in technology integration, library or media sciences, or a closely related field. Interest and experience in an early childhood-middle school program preferred.

 

Physical Requirements: The ability to navigate stairs as part of daily routines; bending and squatting as required to participate in activities; lifting/carrying boxes up to 25 pounds; and the ability to maneuver as necessary within a regular classroom and office setting.
