Technology Coordinator

- The Technology Coordinator is responsible for support and training requests from the LFA community and facilitating numerous IT projects on the Lake Forest campus.
Knowledge Required:- Well-rounded computer and technology usage - PC’s Macs iPads
- Advanced client operating system usage (Windows, MacOS)
- Usage and administration of Content Management Systems (CMS)
- Graphics manipulation / WYSIWYG web tools usage
- iPads / IOS (1:1 program)
- Google Apps (now G-Suite)
- Mobile Device Management and related functions
- Audio Visual equipment (projectors, LCD displays, sound and PA equipment)
- Time Management
Bonus Knowledge:
- Mid-level Database / ERP systems
The ideal candidate will have the following traits:- Minimum 3-5 years customer service and technology support experience
- Someone who enjoys technology and working with people
- An individual who is well versed with all aspects of technology usage and willing to enhance knowledge unassisted
- A background in customer support where the expected quality level was high to elite
- A person capable of handling the natural ebbs and flows of an IT Helpdesk and understands how to take full ownership of issues - even if they are not the technical expert on the problem
- Experience with conducting IT training sessions (groups / one-on-one) for a wide range of applications and user disciplines
- An active participant in LFA’s off-hours emergency dispatch schedule (one week on - four weeks off)
- Someone comfortable with creating a lot of custom documentation
- An individual who grasps the concept of the “overall user experience” concerning IT services and can offer insight in ways to enhance or simplify
- A willingness to increase knowledge into other IT disciplines as the Academy’s technical footprint expands
- A team player who understands the importance of the position and who will complement the positive atmosphere our IT Department maintains

Summary of ResponsibilitiesAddressing support issues that focus on:
- Computer / tech usage: PC’s, Mac’s iPads
- Operating System usage: Windows, MacOS, iOS
- Operations of campus printer and copiers
- Standard LFA application usage: Microsoft Office, G Suite, etc
- Standard ERP and related applications usage: Senior Systems, MyBackPack
- Network navigation and shared drives training
- LMS and CMS usage: Canvas, Finalsite
- iPads: Repair arrangement / replacement, IOS usage, apps installs, and backups
- Classroom technology and audio / video equipment usage (projectors, drop-down screens, etc)
- IT Tech catalog CMS (Joomla)
- (Possible) shared Media Commons support representative
- Expected growth into handling PC / Mac imaging and handling support issues of higher complexity
- Part of after hours dispatch / emergency support cycle (one week on, four weeks off )
User support - dispatch, support, assignment and tracking duties:
- Primary position for all incoming helpdesk requests (email / walk-ins / emergency phone (TBA))
- Core support responsibilities: Overall technology and software usage - PC’s, Mac’s, iPads, copiers, etc.
- If support request is not usage or part of core knowledge, assigned to proper technician
- Oversees technician's support tickets and tracks responsiveness
- Responsible for general IT communications and outage notifications to the LFA community
IT Training - Faculty and Staff
- Lead representative for all staff IT training initiatives: formal classes, one-on-one labs
- Develop a template to execute an LFA IT training initiative using the ISACS report as a frame of reference
- Collaborate with department heads to create an IT workshop time that can regularly be scheduled
- Develop “Welcome to LFA” IT training curriculum for new hires based on department
- Administration - Computer and software overview
- Faculty - include “Welcome to your LFA classroom” hands-on labs
- Develop custom training curriculum for all aspects of IT technology usage and procedures compatible with IT Service Catalog
IT Training - Students
- Developing a plan / materials on how best to engage students
- Ad-hoc sessions for standard iPad application and PC / Mac usage: Walk-in’s, Media Commons lab and other on-campus computers
- IT Service Catalog training content for common usage question and iPad App installations
- Involved with Sophomore Seminar / Cybersecurity classes
- Other initiatives as demand designates
Additional IT responsibilities
- Support and data lead for LMS (Canvas)
- Secondary and Backup administration for Senior Systems / MyBackPack
- Content provider and layout manager for Tech Service Catalog (tech.lfanet.org)
- Usage and training resource for Finalsite (www.lfanet.org)
iPad responsibilities
- Lead the 1-1 iPad program
- Manage all iPad administrative duties and inventory tracking
- Coordinate freshman handout / senior turn-in / full community replacement process and assigns IT staff rotation
- Process and replace lost, stolen and broken iPads
IT Usability management
- Lead all IT projects where focus is collaboration or usability
- Member of all LFA project committees that has an IT software usability component
- Responsible for building related training materials and coordinating formal sessions.
Other Internal IT responsibilities
- Coordinate IT resource needs with HR for employee move / add / change requests
- Maintain ITs inventory management and asset tagging process
- Other duties as needed by the IT Department
