Technology Director
Educational Technologist Job Purpose
To provide pedagogic, technical and practical advice, guidance, encouragement, and support to academic and administrative staff at La Salle Academy on the use, and development, of La Salle Academy software and hardware, and a range of other centrally-provided technology enhanced learning tools, for the delivery of teaching and learning, and to support administrative processes such as the organization of assessments to enable the school to deliver and expand its online learning portfolio, and to undertake innovative teaching projects
Main Responsibilities
- Providing training of both academic and support staff in the effective use of VLEs (Virtual Learning Environments), and other related learning technologies currently in use within La Salle Academy Development, training and support will be delivered in a variety of ways, including one-to-one, online, telephone, workshops, and discussion groups.

Providing advice, assistance, and support on the implementation of technology enhanced teaching and learning.

Providing technical support to students and staff diagnosing, analyzing and solving technical problems.

Keep up to date with research and development of learning technologies and their use in supporting quality teaching and effective learning.

Create and teach curricular materials for K-8 students in class periods dedicated to Technology.

Collaboration with other teachers in designing and implementing units of study in accord with the school's educational perspective and curricular architecture

Providing support to The School's teachers and students in the creation, implementation, and use of the technology resources in classrooms

Serve as liaison with our managed services provider

Assist in the effective integration of technology; generally supporting classroom technology, while increasing each teacher's ability to support classroom technology

Technical Responsibilities

Installs and relocates hardware and software of network equipment, including assembly, configuration and transport in accordance with established procedures and instruction

Responds to and remediates various networking issues, such as troubleshooting wireless LAN connectivity problems, student and staff hardware

Works with and assists contract and vendor supplied personnel engaged in the installation, maintenance and repair of network hardware and software

Minimum Qualifications

B.A. or B.S. degree from an accredited college or university

Degree in a relevant subject and relevant experience of the uses and capabilities of online technologies for teaching and learning

Digital portfolio detailing prior technology and education experience

Experience in K-12 public and/or independent schools
-
Knowledge of and experience within an educational setting in which integrated curriculum is designed and delivered
-
Knowledge of and experience with traditional instructional practices for curriculum design and development
-
Working knowledge of and experience with innovative pedagogy that makes use of digital technologies
-
Appreciates value of a strong team and applies team building skills

Excellent oral and written communications, listening, and interpersonal skills

Commitment to equity and justice, including knowledge and skills related to cultural competencies

Ability to provide second-tier support for academic computing systems.

Experience in supporting users to make the most of the capabilities of a VLE and in the use of technology enhanced learning tools, such as blogs, wikis, and collaboration tools, within a pedagogical framework

Written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate with a diverse audience, with a wide range of technical expertise; experience of organizing and running staff development training (one-to-one and group) and writing documentation.

Knowledge of supporting distance learning courses; demonstrable knowledge of a range of appropriate software tools used to support technology enhanced learning on campus and by distance learning.

Ability to identify, prioritize, plan and manage work independently without direct supervision, and flexibility to accommodate peaks and ad hoc changes.

Ability to quickly learn to use new tools and interfaces effectively

Understand information security practices particularly as it relates to personal or sensitive information

Demonstrable experience of using a variety of LMS

Experience of media creation and editing using packages such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier Pro or other advanced photo, audio and video editing software.
