Rivermont Collegiate is a co-educational, independent school offering an exclusively college preparatory program. Its eight and one-half acre campus is located on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River in Bettendorf, Iowa. Founded in 1884, Rivermont is the only Preschool through 12th Grade college preparatory, day and boarding school in the Quad Cities.

Summary

Rivermont Collegiate is searching for a full-time Technology Instructor and IT Support for the 2019-2020 school year. Candidates should have successful hands-on and project/problem-based teaching experience in elementary, middle, and/or upper school technology classrooms.  The instructor filling these roles will be responsible for continuing to develop a program that features curriculum creation, enhancement, and technology integration.  Each full-time instructor at Rivermont Collegiate is required to teach, serve as an advisor, and perform regular duty in support of the residential program. 

Relationships

Each faculty member reports to the Director of Faculty and ultimately the Headmaster.  Faculty members work in conjunction with the lead teacher in their discipline for teaching related matters, to the Dean of Students for disciplinary issues, and to the director of residential life for residential responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work in close collaboration with colleagues to co-plan, co-teach and develop a K-12 program, and supervise the work of students in stand-alone classes.

  • Serve as advisor for a class of students, providing guidance in academic, extracurricular, social, and personal areas and serve as the school’s key liaison to parents.

  • Have a strong vision for progressive approaches to technology education.

  • Ability to troubleshoot minor network, operating system, and device issues.

  • Use strong skills in oral and written communication to frame and present the complex world of technology education to a variety of audiences.

  • Willingness to research and evaluate new hardware and software needs to enhance the technology curriculum while staying on trend.

  • Represent the school at various regional, state, and national associations relative to the role as a faculty member.

  • Residential life duty approximately one weekend bi-monthly.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

The optimal candidate will have a strong technology background with experience in teaching elementary, middle and/or upper school students makerspace and technology.  A Master’s Degree is preferred; broad experience with a variety of software platforms and PC/Mac systems is needed.  Partnering across disciplines and grade levels are valued at Rivermont Collegiate.  Knowledge to support, troubleshoot, and maintain network and computers systems is required.

Other Requirements & Skills

A current driver’s license will be required. A criminal multi-state background check is required and must be successfully completed before employment can begin.
