Technology Integration Coordinator
The Columbus Torah Academy in Columbus, Ohio (www.torahacademy.org), is looking for a full time Upper School Technology Integration Coordinator for the 2018-2019 academic school year. CTA, an independent K-12 Jewish day school accredited by ISACS, is located on the east side of Columbus on a private campus. The Upper School (grades 7-12) has approximately 80 students. Our classes are small, and our teachers enjoy getting to know their students well. 100% of our graduates attend college, (either 2-year or 4-year) and the vast majority of students come from families with college-educated parents. This is a new position funded by a grant through the Columbus Jewish Foundation. The expectations of this position are outlined below:
- Fulfill the expectations of the Experiential Learning Initiative grant from the Columbus Jewish Foundation, working with grades 7-12
- Provide CTA students with more exposure and experience with emerging technologies (i.e. Coding, Robots, Drones, Art/Design Components (shooting and editing digital video using various camera technologies), 3D printers, Laser cutters, CNC machines, etc.
- Provide CTA students with exposure to careers related to Technology and Engineering
- Forge connections with local business and career/intern opportunities to create opportunities for students
- Work with teachers to integrate experiential technology lessons into their curriculum where it’s appropriate, striving for “curricular innovation”
- Teach 1 semester 10th grade course on Engineering or Computer Programming or similar content - should satisfy requirements for .5 elective credits according to ODE
- Potentially add another high school course in future years - similar or more specialized content
- Align with ISTE standards for educators and help move the school forward with all of ISTE’s standards
- Pay special attention to Digital Citizenship
- Help develop policies and practices to guide students’ use of technology
- Help enforce proper use of technology
- Work with IT on identifying problems with hardware and purchasing needs
- Create and manage a MakerSpace at CTA or some similar initiative if a space cannot be dedicated, i.e. student bins
- Work with US Principal on scheduling so that there may be time for programming
- Provide regular professional development for all faculty (K-12)
- Seek out and apply for relevant grants to help build the program
- Partner with the Idea Foundry
- Plan thoughtful excursions to their facility
- Develop and coordinate after-school programming
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree or higher in education technology or closely related field
● 3+ years teaching experience in a PreK-12 school or college
● Evident enthusiasm for applying technology to enhance teaching and learning
● Administrative experience managing details, communications, and schedules
