The Atlanta Speech School is currently seeking applicants for the position of Technology Integration Specialist for the 2017-18 school year. The candidate will embrace our goal of becoming leaders in integrating technology into our classrooms and equipping students with the adaptive tools needed to support their learning when they transition to new schools. Continual professional growth and reflection are important characteristics to lead our instructional technology program.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties of the Position:
- Demonstrate familiarity with methods for integrating technology into the school curriculum as well as methods for measuring student outcomes;
- Display familiarity with assistive technology methods, software, and interactive learning approaches for students with learning disabilities;
- Establish an instructional technology curriculum based on and aligned with content standards and consistent with national technology standards;
- Ensure that instructional practices related to technology instruction are consistent with the unique needs of children with hearing loss, dyslexia and language-based learning disabilities, and speech-language disorders; as well as with preschool children
- Develop professional learning activities that include in-class demonstrations, web-based tutorials, didactic lessons, web-based resource center, and other accessible methods of instruction for teachers;
- Stay abreast of key learning theories and research trends as well as methods of integrating technology into classroom instruction, and adaptive technology methods;
- Provide technical assistance and collaborate with coordinators and teachers to determine effective digital tools and resources for all learners;
- Develop a long-range strategic plan to guide technology integration program development;
- Serve as chairperson of the School’s Technology Committees;
- Maintain budget for software, curriculum, and other technology-related resources, and consultation with the Technology Director recommend hardware; and
- Model and facilitate the safe, legal, and ethical uses of technology and digital information.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Education with experience in technology integration in schools, curriculum design, and instructional technology preferred, or a Masters Degree in Instructional Technology.
- Consideration will also be given to other candidates who have five or more years of experience in curriculum design, technology integration in schools, and instructional technology
- A current Georgia teaching certification, professional licensure or comparable credential in specialty field is preferred
- Computer knowledge of Windows (XP to Current) and Macintosh (8 to current), HTML, and Basic Networking. Strong background in Microsoft Office, Crystal Reports, Graphics Editing Software
- Experience creating, managing and editing video media, podcasting, and video capture software
- Understanding of social networking and the integration of social networking in the classroom and parent communication technology
- Familiarity with assistive technology software packages such as Dragon Naturally Speaking and Read Write Gold
- Experience working with and developing material for Learning Management Systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- An appreciation for working in a collaborative environment
