Professional Qualifications:
- Teaching License with an endorsement in Computer Education [preferred] and must be willing to obtain ACSI teaching certification
Personal Qualifications:
- Personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ
- Active member of Kingsway Christian Church or another evangelical church as permitted by School Board
- Evidence of spiritual maturity and clear Christian testimony
- Exhibits fruits of the spirit in actions and speech
- Person of integrity
- Able to maintain confidentiality
Contracted By:
- The School Board for one year upon recommendation of the Head of School
Supervision and evaluation:
- A formal/informal evaluation by the Principal each year
- General Description:
- This individual teaches computer classes, provides training and support to the staff on technology
Relationship to Students
The technology teacher will:
- Effectively lead and interact with the students
- Provide classroom instruction conducive to learning
- Be a godly role model and promote a strong spiritual foundation for students
Relationship to Faculty/Staff/Parents
The technology teacher will:
- Work together as a unit with other team members
- Communicate with students and parents on a regular basis
- Support and encourage students, parents, and fellow workers as instructed in God’s Word
- Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their child’s education
- Assist parents in this task of teaching children in the Lord
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Planning and Facilitating Teaching and Learning
- Teaches assigned technology classes [K-8th grade]
- Collaborates with teachers and other instructional staff to develop curriculum materials and specific lesson plans that integrate technology
- Models the integration of technology in all curriculum areas
- Facilitates school participation in technology programs and activities
- Conducts staff development in the areas of technology integration based on the Indiana Technology Competencies for Educators
- Follows a plan for professional development and actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally
2. Planning and Facilitating Information Access and Delivery
- Implements best practices related to technology use in the school program based on research, pilot programs, and state/national standards
- Works with the principal and school leadership team to provide access to technology resource and services of the Technology Teacher/Support Assistant at point of need
- Works with teachers and technology staff in the selection of resources that are compatible with the school technology infrastructure
- Adheres to and communicates copyright as well as other laws and guidelines pertaining to the distribution and ethical use of all resources
3. Planning and Facilitating Program Administration
- Provides leadership and collaborates with the Technology Supervisor and Technology Committee to develop, implement, and update a school instructional technology plan
- Collaborates with teachers, Technology Supervisor, Technology Committee, and students to evaluate select resources addressing curricular needs and learning goals
- Leads in the ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of the instructional technology program
- Prepares and submits accurate reports as required
- Carries out non-instructional duties as assigned and/or as needed.
