The position of Technology Integration Specialist (TIS) promotes the use of technologies to support student achievement in the PreK-12 classroom. The primary focus of the TIS is to provide leadership to classroom teachers to innovate their classrooms and to successfully integrate the use of effective strategies, multiple technologies, and digital literacies in order to differentiate and enhance student learning, including strengthening of technology skills of students and teachers. The TIS must be proficient in current technology resources in an educational environment with the following required skills or experiences: teaching, knowledge of academic standards, assessment testing, technology devices, and navigation and application of relevant web resources.

Responsibilities and Assigned Tasks

  • Plans, collaborates, organizes, mentors, and facilitates with PreK-12 teachers composing effective technology-infused, content-based lessons, and supports the teachers as they implement the lessons in their classrooms
  • Facilitates the use of research-based instructional technology teaching strategies and best practices to address the needs of teachers and school goals 
  • Builds professional development programs for administrators, faculty, and staff in the use of software applications, hardware, Internet resources, system policies and practices, technology integration strategies and initiatives
  • Models appropriate and differentiated teaching strategies for integrating technology into the classroom
  • Researches new technologies and digital literacies that enhance educational instruction
  • Guide development of STEAM education in cooperation with Dean of Curriculum and Department Chairs; advocate for integration of “21st century skills” into pedagogy. 
  • Teach 1-2 student classes as part of the Upper or Middle School Divisions
  • Adhere to, and promote the ethics of copyright law application and the Child Online Protection Act, along with the social media policy 
  • Serves as the liaison between the teaching staff and technology staff, providing input and priorities for classroom technology
  • Works in close collaboration with Technology Department and Library staff to provide the highest standard of instructional support. 
  • Position reports to Dean of Curriculum and will work with Division Heads in all grades as well as Executive Council.
  • Nurture and grow student technology clubs, student helpers, and independent study students. 

Candidate Requirements

 

  • Master’s degree or higher, preferably in advanced education in Instructional Technology or a STEAM discipline
  • A successful track record of exploring and implementing new standards of best practices for integration of technology and learning;
  • 2-3 years of successful full-time experience as a classroom teacher; 2-3 years experience educating teachers or adults in the integration of technology for instruction and productivity; 
  • Demonstrated success in coordinating STEAM-related educational initiatives
  • Dynamic instructional style for both faculty professional development and classroom
  • Ability to manage a dynamic and complex program;
  • Creative and entrepreneurial teaching skills including design thinking;
  • Highly-respected and ethically-balanced interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work with a broad range of faculty and students, expressed through collaborative and collegial exchanges;
