UW Information Technology (UWIT)  is the central IT organization for the University of Washington, providing critical technology support to all three campuses, UW medical centers and global research operations. UW-IT collaborates with University partners to advance teaching, learning, innovation and discovery at the UW.  The Enterprise Information, Integration & Analytics unit (EIIA) within UWIT provides consistent and reliable architectures, guidelines, standards, tools, and services for analysis, design, integration, management, and delivery of institutional data. In addition, the EIIA group manages, develops and maintains institutional data resources, including the UW Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and UW Enterprise Web Services (EWS), to provide information for decision-making through central business intelligence (BI) products and tools. 

EIIA is currently seeking a Technology Project Manager (TPM) to independently lead and coordinates enterprise data integration and business intelligence projects on the team. The TPM is responsible for project planning, prioritization, scoping and stakeholder buy-in; management of resource allocations; managing budgets and tracking budget performance; triage and prioritization; development, implementation, delivery and deployment of projects. The TPM is the single point of contact for all aspects of enterprise projects on the EIIA team; this also includes coordination of all project resources, both in EIIA and for external project team members, and all communication to internal and external project stakeholders. 

The TPM is a senior project manager well versed in data warehousing and with advanced experience in the implementation of large scale, enterprise projects in diverse and complex technical environments. The TPM communicates effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives, and is apt at managing expectations. 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration. 

  • Minimum of four years of experience performing progressively more complex tasks in information and technical management activities. 

  • Experience with large scale technical project management in large, complex environments. 

  • Experience with Agile project management. 

  • IT background with experience across the systems development life cycle with experience in all program/project phases:  plan, initiate, elaborate, design, prototype, build, test, deploy. 

  • Demonstrated advanced project management soft skills, including tolerance for ambiguity, ability to earn the trust of stakeholders, ability to motivate team members, tenacious problem ownership, the ability to deliver bad news gracefully, and a dedication to customer advocacy. 

  • Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills and personal interaction abilities.  

  • Strong problem solving skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. 

  • Experience facilitating meetings, constructively addressing input and criticism, and resolving conflicts. 

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. 

DESIRED: 

  • Experience leading development of end-to-end Information Management and Business Intelligence solutions. 

  • Proficiency in JIRA or similar project tracking/issue tracking tool. 

  • Experience in a major research university setting. 

  • Knowledge of multiple business subject areas, i.e. Finance and Student, etc.
