Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and one year of related experience. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. The university offers market competitive salary and benefits.  Grade ND1 Wage range $15.41/hr - $20.75/hr

Position Description

The School of Dentistry is seeking a Technology Specialist. The selected candidate will provide initial support to clients by responding to and documenting requests received by electronic submission, help line telephone calls, or walk-ins; Prioritize requests received and ensure adequate response is provided; Assist faculty, staff, and students with general maintenance of user accounts for university resources or the clinic information system. Set up new computer hardware and install software for all School of Dentistry departments; Respond to requests for assistance in troubleshooting computer problems; Maintain user terminals and attached printers; Troubleshoot reported problems with servers or systems; Route requests to appropriate University offices or Dental Informatics personnel if resolution is not possible; Maintain software license records. Utilize an automated work order system to log all helpdesk requests.

In addition, this position will respond and resolve user support requests to set up, operate, maintain, and repair audio/visual equipment used in classrooms, such as microphones, video screens, projectors, and sound equipment; Test and resolve equipment issues; Diagnose and correct media system problems; Send equipment for repairs as needed; Track inventory of audio/visual equipment; Order and stock supplies, such as projector bulbs and filters, and replacement parts as needed. Routinely monitor classrooms, conference rooms, teaching galleries, or other rooms containing audio/video equipment for maintenance, verification of optimal operation, cleanliness of lectern, and documentation of lamp hours, filter condition, etc. Provide technical support for tele/videoconferences, webinars, and distance-learning classes; Prepare and update step-instruction documentation for user audience of audio/visual systems; Schedule and deliver routine user training sessions in effort to orient presenters on system functionality.

A successful candidate should have excellent oral and written communications skills, and be competent in computer troubleshooting/repair and help desk/customer service.
