Technology Specialist
Responsibilities: The Technology Specialist reports directly to the Director of Technology, serves as a member of the information technology department and is primarily responsible for the maintaining of computers and supporting their use by the organization. The Technology Specialist will:
Install, configure and maintain organization's operating systems. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware, Mac, Windows, applications software. Detects, diagnoses, and reports Mac and Windows related problems on both server and desktop systems.
• Installs, maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals. Documents, maintains, upgrades or replaces hardware and software systems. Supports and maintains user account information including rights, security and systems groups.
• Troubleshoots network access problems and implements network security policies and procedures. Ensures network (LAN/WAN) security access and protects against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.
• Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems. Responds to telephone calls, email and personnel requests for technical support. Tracks and monitors the problem to insure a timely resolution.
• Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.
• Attend conferences and seminars that are deemed necessary and appropriate.
• Expected to work some holidays, weekends and evenings as needed.
• Perform any other duties as requested by the Director of Technology.
Qualifications:
• May require a Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Familiar with all MacOS and Windows platforms in use by the organization.
• Familiar with vast majority of computer software in use by the organization.
• Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• The ability to teach, explain or educate technical concepts or systems to non-technical individuals.
• Possesses a high degree of professionalism and a strong willingness and ability to provide excellent customer service in person, on the phone and via email.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
