Technology Support Specialist
Job Summary |
A Technology Support Specialist in the School of Public Health-Bloomington IT Services has four major responsibilities: 1) diagnoses, troubleshoots and takes corrective measures on software, hardware, and network service requests; 2) coordinates all equipment deliveries and assists in overseeing the reception station that is responsible for answering phones and addressing walk-in traffic; 3) diagnoses, troubleshoots and takes corrective measures as it relates to classroom technology emergencies; and 4) collaborates with all other SPHBITS team members, and act as a liaison between customers and UITS’ Tier-2 IT support. |

Required Qualifications |
REQUIRED: Associate’s degree in computer science, computer systems technology or a closely related field and Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, team orientation, and ability to work in a dynamic and diverse work environment. The incumbent should be able to prioritize tasks and work independently, clearly communicating their current work with other on the client support team or those they serve. This includes excellent written, verbal and other interpersonal communication skills that would allow the incumbent to work with a wide range of clients. Must have a strong sense of customer service skills, and be able to work under stressful conditions while maintaining a positive attitude and professional demeanor. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Two years of experience with computing/technical support; experience with mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones. |
Working Conditions / Physical Demands |
The position requires intense concentration on complex problems, with the ability to give attention to details. This position requires prolonged periods sitting at a computer, typing, lifting, thinking, speaking, listening, reading, hearing and reasoning. In addition, this position requires mobility to attend meetings on this campus and throughout the buildings supported by SPHBITS client services, including the ability to climb stairs. At times the incumbent will be required to carry computers, peripherals, video equipment and other items related to school technology (up to thirty pounds). Several of these duties may lead to visual and wrist strains. |
